Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The four winners selected to participate in Tennessee’s fourth managed elk hunt will be announced during the June meeting of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission on June 14th-15th (Thursday-Friday).

Committee meetings will begin at 1:00pm on June 14th. The formal meeting will begin at 9:00am on June 15th. The elk hunt winners will be announced during Friday’s session. The meeting will be held at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Region II Ray Bell Office Building and is open to the public. The four winners of the 2012 elk hunt permits were selected in a random drawing to participate in this year’s hunt which is October 15th-19th and again to be held at the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area. The TWRC voted to establish a young sportsman elk hunt following the conclusion of the regular elk hunt, which will be held October 20th-21st with one young sportsman to be selected. The commission will be advised of special arrangements being made for the announcement of the first-ever youth elk tag.

The fifth participant in the October 15th-19th hunt will be the recipient of a permit that is donated to a Non-Governmental Organization, which this year was the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation. That permit will be auctioned on eBay. The auction period will run July 19th-29th. Fund-raising proceeds are designated for the TWRA Elk Program.

In other agenda items, the agency is proposing that the newly acquired land of 592 acres in Cannon County be proclaimed as Headwaters Wildlife Management Area.
