TWRA to auction off Fifth Permit for 2012 Elk Hunt on Ebay July 19th-29th

Nashville, TN – The fifth permit for participation in Tennessee’s fourth managed elk hunt will be awarded to the successful bidder in an eBay auction to be held from July 19th-29th. Proceeds from the auction benefit the state’s elk restoration program.
Since the elk hunt was implemented in 2009, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has donated a permit to a Non-Governmental Organization to join four others who were selected from a computer drawing. Elk Hunt Winners to be announced during June Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission Meeting

Nashville, TN – The four winners selected to participate in Tennessee’s fourth managed elk hunt will be announced during the June meeting of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission on June 14th-15th (Thursday-Friday).
Committee meetings will begin at 1:00pm on June 14th. The formal meeting will begin at 9:00am on June 15th. The elk hunt winners will be announced during Friday’s session. TWRC makes Amendment to Wild Hog Proclamation

Hears Fisheries Division Updates
Jackson, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission amended the Statewide Non-protected Wildlife Proclamation concerning the eradication of wild hogs and heard updates on fisheries among business at its September meeting which concluded Friday.
Concerning the eradication of wild hogs, landowners have voiced concerns that the persons who had leased their land for hunting had expected to be able to have the opportunity to kill a hog. The landowners were concerned they will lose the income produced from these leases. [Read more]
2011 Sport Fishing Regulations to be set at October TWRC Meeting

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission will set the 2011 sport fish regulations during its meeting October 27th-28th at Pickwick Landing State Park.
The TWRC was presented the 2011 sport fish proposals at its August and September meetings by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Among the proposed changes this year are the removal of special trout regulations in Dale Hollow Reservoir with the proposals to be the same as statewide regulations.
Changes to trout fishing on the Hiwassee River include the removal of the 14 inch length limit on brown trout and eliminate the Quality Trout Fishing Area from the entire trout zone (from the Apalachia Powerhouse downstream to the L&N railroad bridge at Reliance). [Read more]
