AAA says Santa could bring $2.00 Gas Prices for Christmas

August 24, 2015

Oil prices dip below $40.00 a barrel for the first time since 2009

Should oil prices remain at or below their current rate, the national average could dip below $2.00 per gallon by the end of the year.

In the southeastern U.S. the price at the pump has fallen 4 cents in the past week, and more than 20 cents in the past month.

AAA says Oil Prices reach Lowest Price since The Great Recession

August 17, 2015

4th quarter Gas prices could average $2.11

AAATampa, FL – The price of oil is on its longest weekly slump of the year, after reaching the lowest closing price since the ‘Great Recession’. This continues to put downward pressure on the price of gasoline, which dropped another 2 cents last week in the southeastern U.S.

“There continues to be a surplus amount of oil in the global market which is expected to keep prices of both oil and gasoline on the low end through the rest of this year,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Gas prices did not fall as fast last week as they have in recent weeks, but that is to be expected because we are still in the middle of the peak driving season. Gas prices should fall even faster in the fall when school is back in session.”

Average U.S. Gas Prices to Possibly Drop Another 15 Cents in August

AAATampa, FL – Gas prices are falling at the fastest rate since January due to cheaper crude oil costs and the resolution of some refinery issues in the western United States. The national average price of gas has dropped for 18 days in row for a total of 12 cents per gallon. Today’s national average price of gas is $2.65 per gallon, which is the lowest average for this time of year since 2009.

“It feels good to see gas prices drop during the middle of the busy summer driving season,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Millions of people are hitting the roads right now and these gas savings should make their trips more affordable.”

AAA says Falling Oil pushes Pump Prices Lower

July 20, 2015

AAATampa, FL – Gas prices dipped last week after the price of oil fell to its lowest level in 3 months. West Texas Intermediate settled below $51.00 a barrel for the first time since April and gas prices are responding in kind.

“The price of oil continues to be the main driver of gas prices, said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “As oil gets cheaper, it becomes less expensive to produce gasoline, and those savings are reflected in prices at the pump.”

AAA reports Oil pushes Gas Prices up 6 Cents

April 20, 2015

The national average price of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.45 per gallon, up 6 cents since last Sunday. Prices also rose 3 cents in Florida and 9 cents in both Georgia and Tennessee

“The average price at the pump typically reflects a bit of seasonality this time of year,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “It is not uncommon for prices to inch higher leading up to the summer driving season and the transition to more expensive summer-blend fuel. However, record high domestic oil production is likely to deliver the cheapest summer gas prices in a decade.” [Read more]
