Gas Prices Drop for Nine Consecutive Days

Tampa, FL – Gas prices have fallen for nine consecutive days, reaching today’s average of $2.33 per gallon.
Gasoline demand remains on track to set a new all-time high for the 2016 summer driving season, however, crude oil remains relatively less expensive than recent years which is contributing to direct savings at the pump.
Drivers are saving a nickel per gallon on the week, but are paying five cents per gallon more on the month.
AAA: Have Gas Prices Peak?

Tampa, FL – Gas prices may have hit their annual peak. The national average price for a gallon of gasoline has declined for eight consecutive days. Regionally, prices have been falling longer: 12 days in Florida (5¢) and Georgia (6¢), and 11 days in Tennessee (6¢).
“Gas prices usually hit their highest point of the year during the first six months and that could be what has happened in the past couple weeks,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group.
AAA says Gas Prices near Seven Month Highs

Tampa, FL – Motorists are seeing the gas prices hit their highest average since October, yet motorists saw very little movement at the pump this week. The national average increased 1 cent from last week and has remained above $2 a gallon for 53 consecutive days.

Fuel Savings Approach $10 Billion in the First Quarter of 2016 Compared to the Same Period Last Year
Tampa, FL – Americans paid the cheapest quarterly gas prices in twelve years during the first three months of 2016. Motorists have saved nearly $10 billion on gas so far this year compared to the same period in 2015.
The national average price of gas during the first quarter was $1.86 per gallon, making it the cheapest quarter for gasoline since January-March 2004. Gas prices are expected to remain relatively low compared to recent years, though average prices could rise another 25 cents per gallon by Memorial Day.
AAA reports Gas Prices above Two Dollars for first time in Three Months

Tampa, FL – The national average climbed above the $2.00 benchmark last week for the first time in 83 days. Sunday’s average price of $2.04 per gallon represents an increase of 6 cents compared to a week ago. The national average has increased for 20 days in a row for a total of 23 cents.
Drivers are paying six cents per gallon more than a week ago and while yearly savings persist, they are beginning to dwindle. Sunday’s price represents a savings of 39 cents per gallon year-over-year, and $1.50 compared to two years ago.
AAA says Seasonal Gas Prices hit Lowest Point in more than a Decade

Tampa, FL – Motorists are enjoying the lowest gas prices during this time of year since 2004. However, the current average remains at an all-time low since January 2009.
“Motorists are saving 60-70 cents for every gallon of gasoline compared to this time last year,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “But the price of oil increased last week, and gas prices rose for the third consecutive day. Georgia and Tennessee residents are seeing prices higher than this time last week, but recent increases in Florida have not exceeded price declines from early last week.”
AAA reports Gas Prices still falling as Oil Prices Rise

Tampa, FL – Gas prices continue falling at a rate of a half cent a day, despite increases in the price of oil last week. Crude prices rose more than $3.00 last week, while the national average dropped 3 cents.
Pump prices have fallen 25 out of the past 30 days. The current average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $1.80 nationwide, $1.83 in Florida, $1.73 in Georgia, and $1.61 in Tennessee.
AAA reports average U.S. Gas Prices Begin 2016 Under $2.00 per Gallon

Washington, D.C. – Gas prices rang in the New Year by reaching the lowest average price ($1.997) for the holiday since 2009. Today’s average price of $1.99 per gallon is the cheapest average since March 25th, 2009, and the national average has moved lower for 50 of the past 59 days, largely due to an abundance of crude oil. Pump prices are discounted by fractions of a penny on the week, by five cents per gallon on the month, and are down by 22 cents on the year.
In 2015, consumers paid an annual average of $2.40 per gallon, which was the lowest annual average since 2009.
AAA says Thanksgiving Gas Prices hit seven year low

Tampa, FL – Last week, motorists enjoyed the lowest Thanksgiving gas prices in seven years (2008). Gas prices declined throughout the holiday weekend, as was forecasted by AAA.
Some non-AAA analysts attempted to grab headlines by forecasting that the national average would dip below $2.00 in time for the holiday, but that did not happen, as the national average on Thanksgiving Day was $2.05 – 75 cents lower than the year before.
35.5 Million Americans to Travel for Labor Day Holiday; Most Since 2008

The final summer holiday to have a 1% increase from 2014
Tampa, FL – AAA Travel projects 35.5 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home during the Labor Day holiday weekend, the highest volume for the holiday since 2008 and a 1 percent increase from the 35 million over 2014.
This will mark the fourth consecutive year of overall travel growth for the Labor Day holiday period, and the seventh out of the past nine years to see year-over-year increase in volume.
