Energy prices increase as refineries conduct maintenance
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Gas Prices steadily declined during the past couple of weeks, but that downward trend is likely coming to an end. Refineries are entering their seasonal maintenance period, which can place significant upward pressure on prices at the pump.
Historically, maintenance season has caused gas prices to jump 15-75 cents from February to June. Last year, pump prices only rose 15 cents during that time, because oil prices struggled to maintain strength. When gasoline jumped 60-70 cents in 2015 and ’16, oil had risen $15.00-$20.00 per barrel.

Nashville, TN – Motorists are seeing steady discounts at the gas pump. Tennessee gas prices have declined the last 12 consecutive days for a total of 7 cents.
During the past week, the state average dropped 5 cents. Sunday’s state average of $2.34 is 1-cent less than a month ago, yet 27 cents more than this time last year.

Nashville, TN – Gas prices increased throughout most of the country last week, albeit by a smaller margin than recent weeks. Tennessee gas prices increased by only 1-cent during the past week, but declined by fractions of a penny over the weekend.
Sunday’s average price of $2.41 is 14 cents more than a month ago, and 34 cents more than this time last year.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee gas prices rose 4 cents last week. Sunday’s state average of $2.40 is 15 cents more than a month ago, and 32 cents more than this time last year. Tennessee has the 10th-lowest state average in the nation.
Last week, stock market gasoline prices reached levels not seen since Hurricane Harvey passed over the Gulf Coast, causing refinery outages and higher gas prices. Based on current wholesale levels, pump prices could soon return to the $2.60s in Florida, $2.50s in Georgia, and the high $2.40s in Tennessee; unless market prices retreat this week.

Nashville, TN – Gas prices have held relatively steady, during the first seven days of the year. Tennessee gas prices averaged $2.28 on Sunday. The state average is 2 cents more than a week ago, and is 13 cents more than this time last year.
Prices at the pump remain elevated due to strong oil prices. WTI settled above $62.00 a barrel last week, for the first time since December 2013, as global supply levels tighten.

Nashville, TN – In 2017, gas prices in Tennessee averaged $2.18, which was the highest annual average in three years. The upward trend has continued into 2018, as gas prices had the most expensive start to the year in four years. Tennessee gas prices averaged $2.26 on January 1st, averaging 13 cents more than the year before.
Today’s state average of $2.27 is 3 cents more than last week and 13 cents more than this time last year.

Nashville, TN – Oil prices reached new heights, causing a bump in the road for falling gas prices. Tennessee gas prices climbed nearly a full cent overnight. The state average is $2.24, after rising 2 cents during the past week.
During the past 8 days, the needle has pointed up for gas prices in Tennessee, although the state average has only risen 2 cents during that time. On Christmas Day, the state average of $2.23 was 14 cents more than the year before, and the highest price for the holiday in three years.
