AAA reports Gas Prices continue to fall despite Oil Price Increase
January 28, 2016
Tampa, FL – Gas prices are still falling even after oil prices increased during the tail-end of last week. Prices at the pump are dropping at a rate of about a half cent a day. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $1.83, 7 cents lower than a month ago, 21 cents lower than this time last year.
“Oil prices dropped like a rock last week, and took gas prices with them,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “The low price of crude remains the primary contributor to discounts at the pump, making it cheaper to produce gasoline.”
AAA says Rising Oil Prices push Gas Prices Higher
November 9, 2015
Tampa, FL – The price of oil moved higher last week and pulled gasoline prices up with it. The average price of gasoline rose 4 cents since October 31st. Average prices in the southeastern U.S. also rose 5 cents in Florida, and 8 cents in Georgia and Tennessee.
“This is one of what should be very few speed bumps in the road to lower gas prices as we close out the year,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Gas prices are forecast to remain low the rest of the year, but at their current lows, pump prices are vulnerable to modest fluctuations in the price of oil, which influences about two-thirds the price of gasoline.”
AAA reports Gas Prices back on the Decline
October 19, 2015
Tampa, FL – Gas prices are declining again, falling 6 cents nationwide in the past week. Regional prices are also down 2 cents in Florida, 4 cents in Georgia, and 3 cents in Tennessee.
“Average prices rose about a nickel in the past couple weeks due to rising oil prices and elevated demand at the same time that refineries were conducting seasonal maintenance,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “More and more refineries are returning to full capacity, which will beef up supplies, helping to push gas prices lower in the coming weeks.”
AAA reports Gas Price Decline stalls as Maintenance Continues
October 5, 2015
Tampa, FL – The price of gasoline inched up an average of about a cent during the past week, but prices leveled off during the weekend. The national average price of $2.29 is the cheapest for this day since 2004.
“Gas prices fluctuated during the past couple of weeks, because gasoline demand is unusually high at a time when refineries are entering their maintenance season,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Fortunately, the slight upward pressure on prices is typically short-lived and gasoline should get cheaper through the end of the year.”
AAA reports Gas Prices slip 6 cents; more discounts to come
September 18, 2015
Tampa, FL – Gas prices dipped another 6 cents nationwide since last week. The average price per gallon fell 5 cents in Florida, and 6 cents in both Georgia and Tennessee.
“Motorists should expect another week of discounts at the pump,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Oil prices remain especially low and gas prices are slowly catching up.”
AAA reports Gas Prices Fall 5 Cents
July 27, 2015
Oil prices fall below $50.00 for the first time in nearly four months
Tampa, FL – The national average price for gasoline dipped 4 cents last week, and prices in the southeast fell even further. Pump prices in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee are down 5 cents compared to last week, after falling for 18 consecutive days.
“Motorists are finally getting some consistent relief at the pump thanks to declining oil prices,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “By this fall, prices could creep closer to levels seen at the beginning of this year, possibly even below $2.00 a gallon in some markets, as long as oil remains low.”
AAA reports Oil Prices Falling, Gas Prices to drop soon
July 13, 2015
Tampa, FL – Motorists should begin to notice lower gasoline prices in the coming weeks thanks to declining oil prices. Last week, a barrel of oil hit its lowest price since April, at a time when gasoline prices were about 20 cents cheaper.
“The decline at the pump is unlikely to be as dramatic as a 20 cent discount, but a few cents here and there is not out of the question,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Usually gas prices respond more rapidly to rising oil prices than when oil prices fall. Prices at the pump aren’t as quick to fall when oil prices do because retailers first need to sell the gasoline in their tanks, which was purchased when gasoline was more expensive. Regardless, lower oil prices means it costs less to produce gasoline, which is good news for motorists.”
