Rate Drops 0.4 Percentage Point From November
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Commissioner of Labor & Workforce Development Karla Davis announced today Tennessee’s unemployment rate for December fell to 8.7 percent, down from the November revised rate of 9.1.
The national unemployment rate for December 2011 was 8.5 percent, a decrease of 0.2 percentage point from the November rate.

Rate Decreases in 79 counties, Increases in 12, and remains the same in Four
Nashville, TN – County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for November 2011, released today, show that the rate decreased in 79 counties, increased in 12 counties, and four counties remained the same.
Tennessee’s unemployment rate for November fell to 9.1 percent, down from the October revised rate of 9.5. The national unemployment rate for November 2011 was 8.6 percent, a decrease of 0.4 percentage point from the October rate.

Nashville, TN – County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for October 2011, released today, show that the rate increased in one county, decreased in 92 counties, and two counties remained the same.
Tennessee’s unemployment rate for October fell to 9.6 percent, down from the September revised rate of 9.8. The national unemployment rate for October 2011 was 9.0 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from the September rate.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Commissioner of Labor & Workforce Development Karla Davis announced today Tennessee’s unemployment rate for August was 9.7 percent, down from the July revised rate of 9.8. The national unemployment rate for August 2011 was 9.1 percent, unchanged from the July revised rate.

Rate Increases in 91 Counties and Decreases in four

Nashville, TN – County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for June 2011, released today show that the rate increased in 91 counties. The four counties that decreased were DeKalb, Hawkins, Moore and Smith.
Tennessee’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for June was 9.8 percent, up slightly from the May revised rate of 9.7. The national unemployment rate for June 2011 was 9.2 percent, up from the May revised rate of 9.1 percent. Henry County had an unemployument rate of 12.7 percent for June, up 0.9 percent from May’s 11.9 percent unemployment.

Gradual increase in state rate mirrors national trend
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Commissioner of Labor & Workforce Development Karla Davis announced today Tennessee’s unemployment rate for June was 9.8 percent, up slightly from the May revised rate of 9.7. The national unemployment rate for June 2011 was 9.2 percent, up from the May revised rate of 9.1 percent.
“The decline in employment combined with a slight expansion in the labor force explains the higher unemployment rate,” Commissioner Davis said. “This is the third month in a row in which the unemployment rate has slightly increased.” [Read more]

Nashville, TN – County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for May 2011, released today, show that the rate decreased in 56 counties, increased in 24 counties, and stayed the same in 15 counties.
Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May was 9.7 percent, up slightly from the April rate of 9.6. The national unemployment rate for May 2011 was 9.1 percent, up from April’s 9.0 percent.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Commissioner of Labor & Workforce Development Karla Davis announced today Tennessee’s unemployment rate for April was 9.6 percent, up 0.1 from the March rate. The national unemployment rate for April 2011 was 9.0 percent, 0.2 percentage point higher than the March rate.
“Tennessee’s unemployment rate experienced a 0.1 percentage point increase from March because of a substantial increase in the number of people looking for a job,” said Labor Commissioner Karla Davis. [Read more]
