Henry County Operation Trick Or Treat Success

Paris, TN – While the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) Community Supervision division has been working all week conducting compliance checks of sex offenders across the state, the agency took time to join our local law enforcement partner for Operation Trick-or-Treat.
This multi-agency sex offender compliance check was launched on Tuesday, October 29th, 2019, as part of a joint effort between the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Paris Police Department and Tennessee Department of Correction.

Five Military Veteran Tennessee State Employees Honored for Exemplary Service
Nashville, TN -Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam joined Tennessee Department of Veterans Services Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder and Major General Terry “Max” Haston from the Tennessee Military Department to recognize five veteran state employees and more than 470,000 Tennessee veterans of all ages and eras.
The Governor’s Veterans Day event was held on the second floor of the State Capitol in downtown Nashville.

Nashville, TN – There were 9,287 tuberculosis cases in the U.S. and 103 in Tennessee in 2016, the lowest numbers ever recorded.
Despite these encouraging figures, the Tennessee Department of Health reminds all Tennesseans TB is still here, but is treatable, curable and preventable.
‘’We are very pleased to see the number of TB cases decline in our state and around the nation, but this is a very common and very deadly disease worldwide and we know more must be done to constrain it,’’ said TDH Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, MPH.
Tennessee Department of Correction Launches “Operation Blackout”

Nashville, TN – As trick-or-treaters put the final touches on their costumes, the Tennessee Department of Correction is already taking additional measures to keep them safe this Halloween with the launch of Operation Blackout.
Operation Blackout began October 22nd, 2015 and is a yearly, massive statewide sweep to ensure registered sex offenders under TDOC supervision follow strict guidelines for the fall season and Halloween. Hundreds of teams of TDOC probation parole officers work with local law enforcement to saturate communities across the state, conducting random visits and compliance checks on sex offenders. Tennessee Department of Correction responses to Questions Regarding Offender Classification

Nashville, TN – Recent questions have been posed regarding the Tennessee Department of Correction’s classification of inmates.
Prior to Commissioner Schofield’s administration, some inmates were placed on the highest level of segregation for non-violent offenses. In 2012, the Department took a critical look at the administrative segregation population and found some significant disparities in the reason for their placement in maximum custody. [Read more]
TBI Case Yields Charges for West Tennessee Inmate in Suspicious Powder Hoax

Knoxville, TN – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for an inmate in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction in connection to a mailed threat targeting an Assistant District Attorney General.
On February 18th, TBI Agents began investigating an incident which occurred at the Sevierville office of District Attorney General James Dunn.
Earlier that day, an employee of the office opened a letter from inmate Mark Rhodes, which contained a suspicious white powder and threats targeting an Assistant District Attorney General who previously prosecuted a case involving Rhodes. [Read more]
