Tennessee National Guard to support 58th Presidential Inauguration

Tennessee National GuardNashville, TN – More than three hundred and thirty Soldiers and Airmen from the Tennessee Army and Air National Guard will support the 58th Presidential Inauguration this week in Washington, D.C.
 
The 194th Engineer Brigade (Army), headquartered in Jackson, has 304 Soldiers providing command and control for Military Police Soldiers performing stationary security at different locations.  A logistics team of supply and maintenance personnel are providing support for the MPs and a Religious Support Team.

Paris and Camden Soldiers Return to Tennessee from Deployment

December 18, 2013

Tennessee National GuardSmyrna, TN – More than 150 Tennesseans from the National Guard’s 212th Engineer Company, based in Paris and Camden, will return after a nearly one-year deployment to the Middle East supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Members of the unit will arrive at the Volunteer Training Site in Smyrna from Fort Bliss, Texas in two groups. The first group of personnel will arrive at roughly 1:30pm and the second at 2:30pm on December 21st, 2013, for out processing. Members will then proceed to their units in West Tennessee. TWRA announces 2013-14 Winter Trout Stocking Schedule

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced its 2013-14. TWRA plans to release approximately 90,000 rainbow trout into Tennessee waters from December through March.

The program provides numerous close to home trout fishing opportunities for anglers during the winter months. These fisheries also provide a great opportunity to introduce children or first-time anglers to fishing. [Read more]

Tennessee Highway Patrol reminds Motoriest to Never Leave Children in Unattended Vehicles

The Tennessee Highway PatrolNashville, TN – In just the first six months of this year, 10 children have lost their lives in the United States due to hyperthermia. That’s why the Tennessee Highway Patrol is educating the public on the dangers of leaving children in unattended vehicles. State Troopers are urging motorists to take extra precautions as temperatures rise throughout the summer months.

In 2012, there were 32 juvenile vehicular hyperthermia fatalities nationwide. Of that figure, five of the hyperthermia-related deaths were in Tennessee. Those deaths occurred in Nashville (8/7/12), Smyrna (8/2/12) and Cleveland, Tennessee (6/28/12). (Source: San Francisco State University).

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans have announced the complete itinerary for the Academy Sports + Outdoors Titans Caravan, a regional series of school visits and free, public autograph signings. The Caravan will make 44 total stops in Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama from April 29th through May 10th.

The Titans Caravan will be in Paris, TN at the Clifty Farm Country Ham, located at 1500 Highway 641, on Tuesday April 30th starting at 3:00pm.

Tennessee National Guard Prepares for Hurricane Response

Tennessee Military DepartmentNashville, TN – Soldiers and Airmen across Tennessee are preparing for a possible activation of National Guard troops, facilities, and equipment in response to the potential landfall of Hurricane Irene.

“We were contacted by National Guard Bureau Wednesday to determine what resources we can provide should the hurricane move inland along the East Coast,” said Brig. Gen. Robert Harris, Tennessee’s Assistant Adjutant General-Army.
