Silver Spring, MD – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced the following actions taken in its ongoing response effort to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic:
On Thursday, the FDA approved Veklury (remdesivir), the first drug approved to treat COVID-19 Coronavirus, for use in adults and pediatric patients (12 years of age and older and weighing at least 40 kg) for the treatment of COVID-19 Coronavirus requiring hospitalization.
Tennessee Department of Health releases Infrastructure Plan for COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) has announced the state’s infrastructure plan for distribution of COVID-19 Coronavirus vaccines once they become available.
TDH in coordination with other state and local agencies submitted an initial draft of the COVID-19 Vaccination Plan for Tennessee to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on October 16th, 2020.
New COVID-19 Website Launched by Tennessee Department of Health

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health and Tennessee’s Unified Command Group today announced the launch of a new website to provide COVID-19 Coronavirus data, additional health information and relevant updates to Tennesseans. The site is now available at COVID19.tn.gov.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee Announces $50 Million in New Business Relief Funding

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and the Financial Stimulus Accountability Group (FSAG) this past week announced an initial $50 million in federal Coronavirus Relief Funds for the new Supplemental Employer Recovery Grant (SERG) program to provide additional relief to small businesses suffering during the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
TWRA announces 2020 Free Youth Hunt Registration going on now

Nashville, TN – Youth between the ages of 10-16, who are hunter safety certified and who have never harvested a deer, are eligible to win a spot in what has become an annual special hunt.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will host the hunt in conjunction with the opening day of the 2020 Tennessee Young Sportsman Deer Hunt on Saturday, October 31st, 2020.
National Gas Price Average Holds Steady as Demand Grows Slightly

Tampa, FL – The latest Energy Information Administration (EIA) report measures demand at 8.52 million b/d, which is a slight uptick from the previous week’s 8.48 million b/d. However, the small increase is still 850,000 b/d lower than last year at this time.
“Low demand, even as gasoline stocks decline, has helped pump prices decline or hold steady on the week,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.

Tennessee Releases Data Showing Significant Learning Loss Among K-12 Students

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee Department of Education has released estimated data regarding learning loss for Tennessee students resulting from COVID-19 Coronavirus school closures through the summer months.
Preliminary data projects an estimated 50% decrease in proficiency rates in 3rd grade reading and a projected 65% decrease in proficiency in math.
TWRA announces Tennessee Hunter Education giving option for Online Completion during COVID-19

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is offering an option to complete Tennessee Hunter Education all online during the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. The course can be completed by using the online course, Hunter-Ed.com, with no in-person portion required.
The online course found at https://www.hunter-ed.com/tennessee/ allows Tennessee students (ages 9 and up), who satisfactorily complete this online course to become certified Tennessee Hunter Education graduates.
