TWRA announces 2021 Muzzleloader Season for Deer opens November 6th

Nashville, TN – The 2021 statewide muzzleloader/archery season for deer opens in Tennessee on Saturday, November 6th, and continues through Friday, November 19th in all of Tennessee’s deer hunting units, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
The opening of muzzleloader season in the state has a permanent opening date of the third Saturday before Thanksgiving.

Tennessee Gas Prices rise another Four Cents

Nashville, TN – Gas prices are still going up in Tennessee but at a slower rate than the last couple of weeks. Since last Monday, gas prices across Tennessee have risen 4 cents, on average.
The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $3.16 which is 26 cents more expensive than one month ago and $1.25 more than one year ago.
Tennessee State Veterinarian announces West Nile Virus confirmed in Weakly County

Nashville, TN – Tennessee’s state veterinarian confirms a horse in Weakley County, Tennessee tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV). The horse was euthanized due to the severity of the case.
WNV is a mosquito-borne virus. Mosquitoes acquire WNV when they feed on infected birds and then spread the virus to people and other animals by biting them.
Tennessee Governor Lee, Commissioner Rolfe Announce Downtown Improvement Grant Recipients

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe announced today 14 Tennessee Main Street and Tennessee Downtowns communities that are receiving Downtown Improvement Grants.
“I congratulate the 14 communities receiving funding through the Downtown Improvement Grants,” said Governor Lee. “These leaders are focusing strategic investments on revitalizing their downtown districts, which are the heart of so many of our communities. This will encourage additional economic development and tourism opportunities for years to come.”
AAA reports Tennessee Gas Price Average Sees Double-Digit Increase for Second Consecutive Week

Nashville, TN – For the second week in a row, the Tennessee gas price average saw a double-digit increase week-over-week. Since last Monday, gas prices across Tennessee have risen 10 cents, on average.
The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $3.12 which is 22 cents more expensive than one month ago and $1.18 more than one year ago.

AAA reports Vehicle Safety Systems Struggle to “See” in Bad Weather, Rain

Nashville, TN – New research from AAA finds that moderate to heavy rain affects a vehicle safety system’s ability to “see”, which may result in performance issues.
During closed course testing, AAA simulated rainfall and other environmental conditions (bugs and dirt) to measure impact on the performance of ADAS like automatic emergency braking and lane keeping assistance. View the full report.

BBB warns Online Purchase Scams Up, Shopping is at Risk

Nashville, TN – Online purchase scams now account for more than a third of all scam reports filed with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and four out of five consumers who report such scams lose money, making it the #1 riskiest scam type.
BBB is warning consumers ahead of the holiday shopping season to be aware of how scammers deceive consumers, whether they are actively shopping or passively browsing.
The 2021 BBB Online Purchase Scams Report examines more than 55,000 online purchase scam reports submitted to BBB Scam Tracker between 2015 and 2021; as well as new survey research conducted in 2021 to get insights from those who reported online purchase scams in 2020 and 2021.
