TWRA reports Deer tests Positive for CWD in Crockett County, Hardin County, Dyer County now High-Risk

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – A deer harvested in Crockett County has tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD), according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).

The CWD-positive deer was a 3 1/2 -year-old buck and changes Crockett County from high-risk to positive for CWD and Dyer County changes to high-risk due to its proximity.

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Paris-Henry County as well as parts of West Tennessee and Middle Tennessee until 2:00am CT Sunday morning.

Strong to severe thunderstorms may develop late this afternoon though the greatest chance for severe weather will be from 8:00pm tonight through early Sunday morning. All modes of severe weather are possible, including damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a few tornadoes.

The White HouseWashington, D.C. – Today, Friday, December 6th, 2019, U.S. President Donald J. Trump declared that a major disaster exists in the State of Tennessee and ordered Federal assistance to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by a severe storm and straight-line winds on October 26th, 2019.

Federal funding is available to State and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storm and straight-line winds in Benton County, Decatur County, Hardin County, Henderson County, Houston County, Humphreys County, McNairy County, Montgomery County, Perry County, and Wayne County.

TDOE Releases TNReady Results for 2019

Tennessee Department of EducationNashville, TN –  The Tennessee Department of Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn has released the TNReady assessment results which indicates that students across the state are performing better in almost all math subjects. 

The TNReady scores also show that more than half the schools in Tennessee – 56 percent – improved their growth scores (TVAAS scores) from the previous year, with 41 percent of all schools earning a level 4 or 5 TVAAS rating which measures year-to-year growth.
