Rapidly Rising Lake Levels Create More Impacts at LBL

Golden Pond, KY – Tennessee Valley Authority and the Corps of Engineers are predicting unprecedented lake levels for Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake rapidly rising to 372 feet by May 4th (13 feet over summer pool) and will be held at this level for a couple of days. The current lake levels are 367.4 feet and are predicted to rise to 370.7 feet by Sunday, May 1st.
These lake levels have caused flooding along all of Land Between The Lakes (LBL) shoreline. As of today, LBL staff closed all boat ramps, and lakeside campsites, trails, and roads. All developed campgrounds will be closed by Sunday, May 1st. These areas will be barricaded and closed for safety of all visitors. Citations will be issued to anyone found beyond barricaded areas. Autumn Brings Improvements to Land Between the Lakes

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area invites the public to come out and enjoy facility improvements at Energy Lake Campground and the Golden Pond Target Range.
Campers at Energy Lake Campground will be greeted by a new gatehouse and three new accessible shower buildings in loops A, C, and D. All of Road 134 leading to Energy Lake is also freshly paved. [Read more]
National Public Lands Day

Golden Pond, KY – Saturday, September 25, Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will be waiving fees at participating day-use facilities in honor of National Public Lands Day (NPLD).
General admission to The Homeplace (HP), Woodlands Nature Station (NS), Elk & Bison Prairie, and the Golden Pond Planetarium (GPP) show at 1:00pm will be free. Wranglers Campground will also be waiving day-use riding fees. Visitors can also pick up a coupon at NS, HP, or GPP for a “buy one, get one free” return visit for ages 13 and up. The return visit coupon, which expires November 30th, 2010, will be good for a future one-time admission to either NS or HP (does not include special events).
In addition to waiving fees, LBL will also be unveiling a new gatehouse and shower building at Energy Lake Campground. Take a leisurely drive on the newly paved road leading to Energy Lake Campground (Rd 134) to check out the recent improvements. While you are out and about, be sure to visit our new and drastically improved Golden Pond Target Range along US68/KY80.
