AAA reports National Gas Price Average Declines after Nearly Two Weeks of Increases

AAATampa, FL – At $2.89, the national gas price average is two-cents cheaper than it was a week ago amid consumer gasoline demand declining for a third week. Today’s gas price average is four-cents more than a month ago and 42-cents more expensive than a year ago.

The majority of states have seen gas prices decrease on the week with the exception of a handful of states, some of which were impacted by fuel disruptions on the west coast and in the southeast.

AAA reports National Average Gas Price Drops for 10 Consecutive Days

AAATampa, FL – Pump prices have fallen for 10 consecutive days, reaching today’s national average price of $2.17 per gallon. Drivers are benefiting from the price of retail gasoline with today’s average five cents less per gallon than one week ago and eight cents less than one month ago.

The abundance of crude oil in the global market is contributing to lower prices, and as a result, retail averages are the same price as compared to one year ago.

Colonial Pipeline Restored Service to Line 1 Sunday Morning

AAATampa, FL – A major shift occurred in the oil markets last week, suggesting gas prices could soon plummet. Oil prices tumbled to 6-week lows, due to an unexpected record-high build in domestic crude oil inventories.

The crude oil forecast has now gone from an imminent $55.00-$60.00 a barrel range, to $40.00 a barrel or below – the same level as we saw last winter, when gas prices were less than $2.00 a gallon.

AAA reports Volatility at the Pump as Oil Prices Rise

AAATampa, FL Gas prices are about the same – if not less – than last week, in the southeastern United States. During the past seven days, state averages declined 4 cents in Georgia and 2 cents in Tennessee. The state average in Florida is the same.

“Volatility continues in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions where gasoline prices remained high as a result of the Colonial Pipeline disruption,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Even though the Colonial Pipeline successfully restarted Line 1 more than a week ago, the effect of the disruption is still being felt in those regions and will take some time to get fully resupplied.”

AAA reports Gas Prices begin to fall after Leak

AAATampa, FL – Florida motorists continue to enjoy daily discounts at the pump. Meanwhile, gas prices in Georgia and Tennessee are letting up after a leak in the Colonial Pipeline suppressed gasoline supplies in six states.

During the 12-day shutdown to line 1, state average prices rose 28 cents in Georgia and 17 cents in Tennessee. Since restoring flow to Line 1 on Wednesday, state averages are 2 cents lower in Georgia and fractions of a penny less in Tennessee.

AAATampa, FL A pipeline leak has led to a major problem for motorists along the eastern United States. Georgia and Tennessee are among six states that have declared a state of emergency after a leak was detected along the Colonial Pipeline. Pump prices in these states are rising, while some stations have reportedly run out of gasoline.

The Colonial Pipeline transports more than 100 million gallons of petroleum products like gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel a day, to markets between Houston and New York City.

Haslam Issues Waiver to Avoid Petroleum Supply Disruptions in Tennessee

September 17, 2016

Tennessee State GovernmentNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam issued Executive Order #56 today waiving federal hours of service requirements for petroleum transporters to prevent any fuel supply disruptions for Tennesseans from the Colonial pipeline leak in Shelby County, AL.

“This is a precautionary measure as we are not currently seeing any widespread unavailability of petroleum in Tennessee,” Haslam said. “We urge Tennesseans to maintain their normal fuel purchasing and driving patterns to help prevent any potential impacts on our fuel supply while the pipeline undergoes repairs.”

Colonial Pipeline Partial Closure may cause Temporary Price Increase and Supply Shortage in Tennessee

September 16, 2016

AAAKnoxville, TN – The Colonial pipeline, supplying much of the East Coast running from Texas to New Jersey See Map Here, has been partially closed since September 9th when a leak was discovered in Alabama.

The company originally anticipated having the pipeline reopened by this weekend, but bad weather has delayed the fix. This partial closure has caused tighter supply for some southeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
