Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency announces 7th Annual Operation Dry Water Weekend to be held June 26th-28th

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will be participating in Operation Dry Water, June 26th-28th. Operation Dry Water is a national weekend of Boating Under the Influence (BUI) education and enforcement directed toward reducing alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities.
Operation Dry Water is held on the weekend prior to the Independence Day (July 4th) holiday to give BUI enforcement high visibility during the peak boating season. The TWRA is teaming with the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA). Operation Dry Water is being held for the seventh year after being started by the NASBLA in 2009.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports No Boating Related Fatalities over Memorial Day Weekend

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is reporting that there were no boating-related fatalities over the 2014 Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Across the state, the TWRA Boating and Law Enforcement Division reports there were seven boating incidents, six which were property dame and one with injury. TWRA boating officers made 12 boating under the influence (BUI) arrests and five other arrests.

Annually, the Memorial Day weekend is one of the year’s busiest boating weekends. Last year over the holiday weekend, there was one boating-related fatality which came while a Knoxville resident was launching his boat from a trailer on Douglas Lake.
TWRA reports Two Boating related Fatalities over July 4th Holiday Weekend

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) reported two-boating related fatalities over the July 4th holiday weekend. The fatal incidents occurred on Old Hickory lake and Center Hill lake.
The TWRA also reported that boating officers made seven boating under the influence (BUI) arrests. TWRA boating officers were out in full force and checked more than 6,600 boats and issued 210 warnings and 319 citations. [Read more]

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports Memorial Day Weekend Free of Boating-Related Fatalities for Third Straight Year

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is reporting that there were no boating-related fatalities reported over the 2013 Memorial Day holiday weekend. It marks the third consecutive year that the unofficial weekend start to the summer boating season has been free of boating fatalities.
During the Memorial Day holiday period from Friday, May 24th through Monday, May 27th, there were eight total reported boating accidents for the second straight year.
