Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) reports that the 2021 statewide muzzleloader/archery season for deer opens in Tennessee on Saturday, November 6th and continues through Friday, November 19th in all of Tennessee’s deer hunting units, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

The opening of muzzleloader season in the state has a permanent opening date of the third Saturday before Thanksgiving.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), the 2019 statewide muzzleloader/archery season for deer opens in Tennessee on Saturday, November 9th and continues through Friday, November 22nd in all of Tennessee’s deer hunting units. The opening of muzzleloader season in the state has a permanent opening date of the third Saturday before Thanksgiving.

For Unit CWD only in addition to muzzleloader, gun season will open on November 9th. The newly-created Unit CWD in the southwestern portion of the state was established after the confirmation of chronic wasting disease (CWD) last December.

TWRA announces 2017-18 Gun Hunting Season for Deer Opens November 16th

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Tennessee’s 2017-18 gun hunting season for deer opens Saturday, November 18th, 2017. Deer gun season has the traditional opening date of the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving.

During gun season, sportsmen may also use muzzleloader or archery equipment. The season will continue through January 7th, 2018 and the second Young Sportsman Hunt is January 13th-14th.

Deer hunting information for the 2016-2017 season and specific regulations can be found at visitor facilities and online at www.landbetweenthelakes.us/seendo/outdoor-rec/hunting Hunters should also reference appropriate state regulations.

LBL “No Hunting” Zones Open to Archery Deer Hunting

November 25, 2013

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will open certain areas typically marked as “No Hunting” zones for archery deer hunting. Hunters are encouraged to harvest antlerless deer in these areas to reduce deer populations.

Kentucky areas will be open to archery hunting from December 1st through January 20th, including Hillman Ferry and Energy Lake campgrounds. Tennessee areas will be open to archery hunting from December 1st through January 5th and include Brandon Spring Group Center, Piney Campground, and the South Nature Watch Demonstration Area in the eastern portion of Hunt Area 16.

TWRA reports Young Sportsman Deer Hunt numbers show slight increase

November 10, 2013

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Harvests from Tennessee’s first Young Sportsman Deer Hunt of the 2013-14 season were very similar to the fall of 2012, showing a slight increase. The youth hunt was held across the state on October 26th-27th.

The young sportsmen harvested 8,484 deer in Tennessee’s 95 counties. The number is up 150 deer from 2012’s 8,334. [Read more]

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says Deer Archery Hunting Season to open September 22nd

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Tennessee’s 2012 deer archery-only season opens statewide on Saturday, September 22nd. The archery season dates in all three of the state’s deer hunting units are the same. The dates are September 22nd-October 26th and October 29th-November 2nd.

The antlerless deer bag limits by units are four in Units A and B deer management areas and three per day in Unit L areas. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission approved the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s proposal to increase the antlerless archery season bag limit in Unit B to four deer per season at its 2012-13 seasons setting meeting in May. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission set the state’s 2012-13 hunting seasons during its May meeting which concluded Friday at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Ray Bell Region II Building.

Among the changes, Tennessee sportsmen will see an increase in deer and bear harvest opportunities.

In regard to white-tailed deer hunting, the TWRC approved the TWRA’s proposal to increase the antlerless archery season bag limit in Unit B to four deer per season. [Read more]

Hunters are encouraged to harvest deer without antlers in these areas to reduce deer populations.

Areas open to archery hunting include Hillman Ferry Campground, Piney Campground, and Brandon Spring Group Center. Archery hunting will also be permitted in the South Nature Watch Demonstration Area across The Trace from South Welcome Station, in the eastern portion of Hunt Area 16. [Read more]
