Mercedes-Benz recalls over 740,000 certain 2001-2011 vehicles because Glass Panel May Detach, become road hazard, increase risk of crash

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - NHTSAWashington, D.C. – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is recalling certain 2001-2011 vehicles because the bonding between the glass panel and the sliding roof frame may deteriorate, possibly resulting in the glass panel detaching from the vehicle.

A detached glass panel can separate from the vehicle and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Certain 2001-2011 Mercedes Benz vehicles are being recalled due to a glass panel that may detach from the vehicle.

Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2001-2011 vehicles. The bonding between the glass panel and the sliding roof frame may deteriorate, possibly resulting in the glass panel detaching from the vehicle. Remedy

MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the glass panel bonding and replace the sliding roof, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 14th, 2020. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1.800.367-6372.
