TDOE Releases TNReady Results for 2019

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn has released the TNReady assessment results which indicates that students across the state are performing better in almost all math subjects.
The TNReady scores also show that more than half the schools in Tennessee – 56 percent – improved their growth scores (TVAAS scores) from the previous year, with 41 percent of all schools earning a level 4 or 5 TVAAS rating which measures year-to-year growth.
Tennessee Agriculture being changed Statewide by Women

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Agriculture says women are increasingly changing the face of agriculture, not just in Tennessee, but across the nation.
From 2012 to 2017, the United States Census of Agriculture reported a 1.7% decline in male farmers and a 27% increase of female farmers nationwide.

Tennessee Department of Agriculture says 22 Tennessee Horses test positive for Equine Piroplasmosis

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Agriculture reports that the state veterinarian’s office is investigating an outbreak of Equine Piroplasmosis (EP) in a group of racing Quarter Horses in Middle Tennessee.
Twenty-two horses have tested positive for EP in five locations within Bedford County, Rutherford County, and Williamson County. The horses are all under quarantine and being treated.
March 2019 County Unemployment Rates Continue to Stay Low

Nashville, TN – Eighty of Tennessee’s 95 counties recorded an unemployment rate in March 2019 that is lower compared to the same time last year according to newly released data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD). Also, in the year-to-year comparison, the rates in nine counties held steady, while six counties saw increases.
The Montgomery County unemployment rate was 3.6 percent in March, up 0.2 percent from February.

Nashville, TN – The unemployment rate for each of Tennessee’s counties improved in February according to new information released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).
Henry County unemployment rate dropped from 4.5 percent in January to 4.2 percent in February.
Low Unemployment Continues Across Much of Tennessee in January

Nashville, TN – Statistics released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) show 67 of the state’s 95 counties continued to experience unemployment rates below 5 percent during the first month of 2019.
The January unemployment rate is 5 percent or greater in the remaining 28 Tennessee counties.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Education Department Commissioner Candice McQueen today announced that Tennessee public school students have once again broken the previous year’s record by earning an average composite score of 20.2 on the ACT in 2018.

More than 1,400 new Tennessee Students now able to access up to $23.4 million in HOPE Scholarship funds.

Nashville, TN – Newly released unemployment data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) showed that vast majority of Tennessee’s 95 counties experienced lower unemployment rates in September 2018, when compared to the previous month.
Paris-Henry County unemployment rate remained the same at 4.3 percent in September.

Nashville, TN – The unemployment rate for each of Tennessee’s 95 counties increased in June 2018, according to data released today by Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) Commissioner Burns Phillips.
Henry County’s unemployment rate for June was 4.7 percent which is up 1.1 percent from May’s 3.6 percent.

Eighty-two of Tennessee’s 95 counties experienced lower unemployment rates when compared to February 2018.
