TWRA announces 2019 Deer Muzzleloader Season begins November 9th

Nashville, TN – According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), the 2019 statewide muzzleloader/archery season for deer opens in Tennessee on Saturday, November 9th and continues through Friday, November 22nd in all of Tennessee’s deer hunting units. The opening of muzzleloader season in the state has a permanent opening date of the third Saturday before Thanksgiving.
For Unit CWD only in addition to muzzleloader, gun season will open on November 9th. The newly-created Unit CWD in the southwestern portion of the state was established after the confirmation of chronic wasting disease (CWD) last December.
TWRA says 2015 WWA Big Game Quota Hunts application period ends July 23rd

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is announcing that the application deadline is nearing for the 2015 Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Big Game Quota Hunts, the regular elk, youth elk, and WMA youth hunts. Entries must be submitted before midnight (CDT) on Wednesday, July 23rd.
The WMA hunting instruction sheet lists locations and dates for each of the quota hunts along with drawing rules and regulations.
Instruction sheets can be obtained and applications made for the hunts at any TWRA license agent, TWRA regional office or online at the TWRA website, www.tnwildlife.org. Mailed instruction sheets will not be processed into the drawing system. [Read more]
TWRA announces New Licenses, Permits effective as of July 1st, 2015

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is reminding customers that as of July 1st, guide licenses are required.
In addition, a “high impact” user permit is now required on designated Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) owned by the TWRA for hooved riders, off-road vehicle users, and bicyclists. [Read more]
TWRA selects Four Wildlife Management Areas as Northern Bobwhite Quail Anchor locations

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency completed “The Tennessee Northern Bobwhite Quail Restoration Plan” last year and it is now being put into action.
The northern bobwhite quail is Tennessee’s state game bird and historically was a prominent game bird across the southeastern United States. Unfortunately, due to the large scale loss of farmland, changes in agriculture, and increases in forest land, quail habitat has been reduced or eliminated. As a result, the northern bobwhite population in the U.S. has been on a decline. [Read more]
Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission approves 2013-2014 Hunting Seasons

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Resources Commission set the state’s 2013-14 hunting seasons at its May 30th-31st meeting which concluded Friday at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Ray Bell Region II Building.
TWRA staff had presented the recommendations on upcoming hunting seasons at its April meeting with few changes for 2013-14. Tennessee deer hunters will again see an increased opportunities for harvest in the coming year. [Read more]
TWRA’s Application Period Deadline approaching for 2012 WMA Big Game Quota Hunts

Nashville, TN – The application period deadline for all Wildlife Management Area (WMA) 2012 Big Game Quota Hunts will run is July 25th. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency began accepting applications on June 13th.
The instruction sheet lists information about which WMAs will hold the hunts, the bag limits, any antler restrictions and hunting implement types allowed on each hunt. [Read more]
AEDC WMA Units 1 & 2 November Permits to go on Sale October 26th

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) Wildlife Management Area units 1 & 2 first come, first serve November deer permits will go on sale October 26th at 8:00am. (CDT).
The permits can be purchased through the TWRA website at www.tnwildlife.org by clicking on the “Buy a License Online” icon located on the right side of the home page. The permits can also be purchased at any TWRA licensing agent.
Hunters who purchase a permit are reminded that they will need to retain their receipt. The receipt will serve as the permit. No phone sales will be accepted. [Read more]

TWRA drawing for selected waterfowl blind sites

The computerized drawing application period is September 8th – October 13th
Nashville, TN – The application period will be September 8th through midnight (CDT) on October 13th, 2010 for the computerized hunt drawing system to be used for 2010-11 waterfowl blind sites on Bogota, the new Thorny Cypress Wildlife Management Area in Dyer County (Region I) and four units of the Region III Chickamauga WMA (Candies Creek, Johnson Bottoms, Rogers Creek, and Yellow Creek).
The application form, similar to WMA quota hunts, etc., is available online at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s website and in printed format. All participating WMAs are on the one application with a total of 41 blind sites. The applicant will have 12 choices. Applicants may not use the same hunt code more than once. An applicant can only apply once per year for these areas. [Read more]
