TWRA announces Waterfowl, Youth/Military Hunts Application Deadline approaching

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) says the December 14th application period for the late segment waterfowl hunting period and the youth/military hunt on wildlife management areas is nearing.
Applications can be made until 11:59pm CT and there is no fee for applying this season. This is a new process for the youth and veterans draw.

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is soliciting comments for its 2020-21 waterfowl and other migratory bird hunting regulations, including sandhill cranes. This is an opportunity for the public to provide ideas and share concerns about hunting regulations with TWRA staff.
The comment period is open October 21st-December 2nd, 2019.

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) says the 2018-19 statewide and Reelfoot Zone waterfowl hunting season started December 1st, 2018 and will continue until January 27th, 2019. Most goose seasons will continue through February 10th.
In addition to the traditional waterfowl season, the sandhill crane hunting season also started December 1st. The second-year statewide season continues through January 27th while the southeast zone has a divided season from December 1st-January 17th and January 21st-27th.
Statewide Youth Waterfowl Hunt set for January 31st and February 7th

Nashville, TN – The 2015 Tennessee statewide youth waterfowl hunts are set for a pair of Saturdays on January 31st and February 7th.
The dates that appear in the annual Tennessee Wildlife Magazine calendar were listed incorrectly.
Youths between 6 and 15 years old may participate in these two youth hunt days and bag limits are the same as during the regular waterfowl season. Federal regulations require an adult at least 21 years of age to accompany youth hunters in the field. Adults are not allowed to hunt.
Land Between the Lakes to Re-Open Wildlife Refuges

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will re-open Rushing Bay, Duncan Bay, Duncan Lake, Smith Bay, Fulton/Honker Bay, Honker Lake Refuge, Long Creek Waterfowl Refuge, and portions of Energy Lake on March 16th. Hematite Lake will also be open March 16th for bank fishing only.
“These areas are closed November 1st through March 15th, primarily as waterfowl and eagle refuges. We appreciate public cooperation in protecting these important areas for wildlife,” said Steve Bloemer, LBL Wildlife Program Manager. “The majority of wintering eagles and waterfowl will have begun migrating back north by early to mid-March, permitting the refuges to be re-opened.” [Read more]
TWRC to set 2011-12 Waterfowl Hunting Season at August Meeting to be held in Kingsport

Nashville, TN – The 2011-12 Tennessee waterfowl hunting seasons will be set at the August meeting of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission. The meeting will be held August 24th-25th (Wednesday-Thursday) at the Meadow View Conference Center in Kingsport.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s proposals for 2011-12 will be presented to the commission. The proposals list very few changes in regard to the agency’s waterfowl recommendations with the exception of minor date adjustments to accommodate calendar changes. [Read more]
