LBL Advisory Board to Meet April 21st

Golden Pond, KY – The Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area Advisory Board will hold its next meeting on Thursday, April 21st, 2011, at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park in Gilbertsville, KY. The meeting will begin at 9:00am CST. This meeting is open to the public.
The 17-member board was formed to provide input and advice to the Forest Service on means of promoting public participation in the Area Plan and environmental education programs at LBL. LBL is a 170,000-acre National Recreation Area located in Kentucky and Tennessee managed by the USDA Forest Service. [Read more]
LBL to host Forum on Proposed Forest Planning Rule

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area is joining the U.S. Forest Service in facilitating a video teleconference, concerning the proposed draft nationwide Forest Service Planning Rule. The forum will be held on March 28th, 2011, at 1:00pm CST at LBL’s Administrative Office, 100 Van Morgan Drive, Golden Pond, KY.
Forest Service staff will explain both the details and intent of the recently proposed draft Planning Rule that, if put into law, will serve as a national blueprint for how hundreds of individual plans will chart national forest management in the coming years. The proposed changes will not impact LBL for several years since the National Recreation Area will continue to operate under its current Area Plan, which was completed in December 2004.
