TWRA, USFWS offer reward for Arrest in Shooting of Bald Eagle in West Tennessee

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRADecatur County, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), along with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are investigating a shooting of a bald eagle in West Tennessee. The injured eagle was reported on December 30th, 2019 around 3:00pm in Decatur County.  A $2,500 reward is being offered for an arrest.

The eagle was found off Martins Landing Road in Bath Springs. TWRA wildlife officer Brant Luker responded to the call and the bald eagle was transported alive, but injured to the North Madison Animal Hospital on December 31st.

Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission makes adjustments to Duck Blind Drawings

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRACookeville, TN – At the June meeting of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission adjustments were made for the August handheld duck bling drawings and an update on a fisheries research cooperative effort was given among the agenda items.

At the TFWC’s May meeting, the commission requested Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency staff review the handheld duck blind drawing process for consistency and ways to reduce the likelihood of buying/selling of blind sites.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) says the 2018-19 statewide and Reelfoot Zone waterfowl hunting season started December 1st, 2018 and will continue until January 27th, 2019. Most goose seasons will continue through February 10th.

In addition to the traditional waterfowl season, the sandhill crane hunting season also started December 1st. The second-year statewide season continues through January 27th while the southeast zone has a divided season from December 1st-January 17th and January 21st-27th.

TFWC to hold Special Meeting on August 1st to discuss Early Migratory Bird Hunting Seasons

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – A special called meeting of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (TFWC) will be held via conference call on Friday, August 1st at 11:00am (CDT). The only item on the agenda is in regard to Proclamation 14-10 (early migratory bird hunting seasons).

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) approved the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s and the Mississippi Flyway Council’s request to increase the early wood duck and teal hunting daily season bag limit from 4 to 6 (no more than two wood ducks) and also allow the addition of teal-only hunting days to this season.
