AAA reports Gas Prices are holding Steady for now
February 21, 2017
Tampa, FL – Motorists saw little movement in pump prices this week. But gasoline could soon be on the rise as spring approaches due to refinery maintenance, an increase in driving and the switch to summer-blend fuels.
Currently, the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.283, up four-tenths of a cent from last week, down 5 cents from a month ago and 56 cents higher year-over-year.
AAA reports Gas Prices Stay Steady
February 13, 2017
Tampa, FL – Prices at the pump rose slightly this week. The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.279 today, up nearly a penny from last week, down 8 cents from a month ago and an increase of 58 cents over last year.
“Low demand is keeping downward pressure on gasoline prices,” said Josh Carrasco, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “OPEC’s cuts are being offset by increases in domestic oil production, high gasoline and oil inventories and a drop in gasoline demand. Gas prices should remain steady in the near-term before taking their seasonal upswing as we head into the spring.”

Motorists continue to see Slow Declines at the Pump
February 7, 2017
Tampa, FL – Motorists continue to see a slow decline in prices at the pump this week. Today’s national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.272 per gallon, which is fractions of a penny less than one week ago, nine cents less than one month ago and 51 cents more per gallon year-over-year.
“Increased domestic oil production and low seasonal demand continue to push gas prices lower,” said Josh Carrasco, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Oil and gas inventories are above-average for this time of year, which should continue to keep downward pressure on pump prices in the short-term.”

Despite this recent trend lower, retail averages are up by 46 cents per gallon as compared to one year ago.

AAA announces Gas Price drop surpasses 100 Consecutive Days
January 5, 2015
Tampa, FL – Motorists in Georgia, Tennessee, and now Florida welcomed the New Year with gasoline selling below $2.00 a gallon at some filling stations. This begins what could be a year of monstrous savings at the pump after record-high oil production in 2014 pushed crude oil and gas prices to the lowest level in six years.
U.S. gasoline prices were $1.11 more expensive just one year ago. At the beginning of 2014, the national average for regular unleaded was $3.32. Prices rose in the spring due to refinery maintenance and the switch to “summer-blend gasoline,” peaking at $3.70 on April 18th. [Read more]
AAA reports Gas Prices Fall for 73rd Consecutive Day
December 8, 2014
Tampa, FL – Gas prices are falling like the winter-time snow. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded ($2.70) dropped 10 cents in the past week, and is the lowest price since September 2010. The average price has fallen for 73 consecutive days – dropping 66 cents since September 26th.
“The shale boom continues putting downward pressure on the price of oil, which pushes gas prices even lower,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Oil prices are forecast to drift lower next week, which means gas prices will follow suit. Gas prices could fall another 15 cents before the end of the year. It’s possible that motorists could find some stations selling gas as low $2.00 a gallon in some markets, but it’s unlikely that average prices would hit those levels.” [Read more]
