Nashville, TN – Students attending Tennessee’s public community colleges and colleges of applied technology will see no tuition or fee increase during the upcoming academic year as a result of action today by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
The Board unanimously approved recommendations of TBR staff and the Board’s Finance and Business Operations Committee for no tuition or student fee increase – for both in-state and out-of-state students – in recognition of the economic conditions prompted by the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee General Assembly maintaining state appropriations for higher education operating funding at current levels.

Nashville, TN – On June 18th-19th, 2020, the Tennessee Board of Regents will convene its regular quarterly meeting with an agenda that includes consideration of tuition, fees and budgets for the 2020-21 academic year.
The Board of Regents governs Tennessee’s 13 community colleges and 27 colleges of applied technology.

Nashville, TN – On Tuesday, June 4th, 2019, two committees of the Tennessee Board of Regents and the chairs of all the board’s committees will meet in Nashville – including the Finance and Business Operations Committee, which will make its recommendations on student tuition and mandatory fees for the 2019-20 academic year.
The June 4th meetings will be held in the board room at the TBR System Office at 1 Bridgestone Park, Nashville, 37214.

Cleveland, TN – The Tennessee Board of Regents approved student tuition rates for the 2018-19 academic year Friday – a 2.7 percent increase at community colleges and 3 percent at colleges of applied technology, the fourth consecutive year of increases under 4 percent and the lowest four-year average increase in decades.
Because there is no across-the-board increase in mandatory fees (fees paid by all students in addition to tuition), the effective increase in tuition and fees combined is 2.4 to 2.6 percent for community college students taking 15 credit hours per semester and 2.8 percent for technical college students.

Harriman, TN – The Tennessee Board of Regents has approved a 2.6 percent increase in in-state tuition rates at its community and technical colleges for 2017-18.
Except for one year when the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology asked for a small increase in fees rather than tuition, it is the lowest increase for the community and technical colleges combined since 1991-92. It is the third consecutive year of tuition hikes of 4 percent or less – the TBR system’s lowest three-year increase in decades.

TBR Adopts Policy on Firearms, approves MTSU request for building name change
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Board of Regents today approved the lowest increases in undergraduate tuition since 1983.
Tuition rates at the six TBR universities, 13 community colleges and 27 Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology will increase an average of 2.6 percent for the 2016-17 academic year.
The action, taken during the TBR quarterly meeting at Northeast State Community College, represents the lowest average increases in more than 30 years. The increases are within the range recommended by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.

Governor Bill Haslam Encourages Tennessee Adults to “Reconnect And Complete” College Degrees

110,000 Tennesseans have already earned more than half the credit hours toward a degree
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam announced yesterday “Tennessee Reconnect + Complete,” a Drive to 55 initiative focused on encouraging Tennessee adults with some college credit to return to college and complete their degree.
According to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC), approximately 940,000 Tennessee adults have enrolled in a postsecondary institution in the state and achieved some college credit but left before obtaining a degree or credential.
Of those, nearly 110,000 Tennesseans have earned more than half the credit hours toward a degree during the past nine years, with 25,000 likely to have enough credits to graduate in only one additional semester.

Morristown, TN – The Tennessee Board of Regents approved maintenance fee/tuition recommendations at its universities and community colleges. Maintenance fee increases are lower this year than in the past two years and will not affect the Tennessee Technology Centers.
