Letter to Editor Update for Land Between the Lakes

Dear Editor,
As many know, Land Between the Lakes has experienced widespread wind and water damage.
It has been confirmed that the same storm that traveled through Marshall County on Wednesday, July 6th also crossed Land Between the Lakes.
It contained a tornado which touched down near Cravens Bay Campground, traveling along the ground for approximately a quarter mile before it went across Lake Barkley into Trigg County. The high winds impacted trees, open lands and other resources along its path.
Land Between The Lakes Receives a Boost to Their Recycling Program

Golden Pond, KY – Personnel Truck Leasing of Murray, Kentucky, has donated a 48-foot, dry van trailer to Friends of Land Between The Lakes.
The trailer will be used to store and transport recyclable materials to processing centers as part of the recycling program conducted by the U.S. Forest Service at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. Friends of Land Between The Lakes also thanks Paschal Truck Lines of Murray for their assistance in acquiring this donation. [Read more]
County Burn Ban Impacts Land Between the Lakes

Golden Pond, KY – Due to heightened fire danger with hot, dry weather forecast for the foreseeable future and the recent burn ban for Trigg County, Kentucky, Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area’s Area Supervisor just signed a temporary closure order prohibiting open fires anywhere on the Forest except in metal campfire rings in developed campgrounds only, effective immediately. Management Urges Campfire Caution at Land Between The Lakes

Golden Pond, KY – Visitors to Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area are advised to use extra caution with open campfires.
Due to extreme drought conditions, high temperatures, and low relative humidity, an increased risk for wildfires exists, especially in backcountry camping areas where dry grass, woody debris, and leaves surround campers. [Read more]
