AAA brings back ‘Tow to Go’ for Thanksgiving

AAANashville, TN – AAA Tow to Go is back just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, serving as the last line of defense to keep impaired drivers off the road.

Tow to Go is available Wednesday, November 24th through Monday, November 29th, 2021. When called, a tow truck transports the would-be impaired driver and their vehicle to a safe place within a 10-mile radius. The service is free, yet should be treated as a backup plan.

AAA Tow to Go Program Available All Memorial Day Weekend

AAATampa, FL – AAA projects 39.3 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles away from home this Memorial Day weekend.

Almost 35 million of those travelers will be hitting the road. That is the highest number in 12 years and it presents a distinct danger when combined with holiday related impaired driving.

AAA - Traffic Safety FoundationKnoxville, TN – In 2015, 30 people (25% of all crash fatalities) were killed in drunk-driving crashes over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday period, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

During post-party hours, between midnight and 5:59am, nearly a third of crash fatalities involved drunk drivers.

AAA says Celebrate the Super Bowl with a Game Plan to get Home Safely

AAAKnoxville, TN – Over 8,000 crashes and 313 fatalities involving an impaired driver occurred on Tennessee roadways in 2016 according to preliminary data from the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, TITAN Division. 

To avoid becoming one of those tragic statistics, AAA and Budweiser urge everyone to have a game plan to get home safely this weekend if they are celebrating away from home with alcohol. This means choosing a designated driver, calling a cab, staying where you are celebrating or finding another safe way home.

For those that did not plan ahead and need the Tow to Go program, it is available this Friday, February 3rd through 6am Monday morning, February 6th.

AAATampa, FL – Independence Day traditionally ranks as one of the year’s deadliest holidays due to drunk-driving crashes.

The most recent data available from the 2014 holiday weekend revealed that 164 people were killed in crashes involving at least one driver with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher. That number represents almost half (41%) of all crash fatalities for the entire holiday weekend.
