Free Clay Shoot available to Youth

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) invites youth in grades 4 through 12 to come out and try their hand at the shotgun shooting sports. The free Recruiting Days will be held on October 2nd and October 9th at 17 locations across the state and will introduce youth to teams in their area.

“Not only is Tennessee SCTP one of the biggest and best-shooting programs in the nation, it’s a supportive community where new athletes are given the tools to succeed,” said Ashley Tone, Tennessee SCTP manager.
Tennessee Wildlife Federation asks Public to Vote for Best Nature Photo

Nashville, TN – After receiving more than 3,200 wildlife and landscape submissions for its 7th annual photo contest, Tennessee Wildlife Federation is asking the public to vote for the best photograph.
Visit tnwf.org/peoples-choice to vote. Voting closes on September 14th at 11:59pm CT.
A panel of jurors has selected 50 photos to participate in public voting. Now, Tennesseans can cast their vote—and cast another every 24 hours. Each ballot submitted enters the voter to win one of several Federation prize packs.

Nashville, TN – Here’s the least controversial statement you’ll read today: We need to solve Tennessee’s litter pollution problem.
Our roadways, waterways, and wildlife are being absolutely choked by litter. And it all has real, measurable impacts on our wallets, our health, and our natural world.
There’s a lot of good work on litter happening across the state but without a comprehensive solution, we’ll never see the progress Tennesseans expect and deserve.
Tennessee Wildlife Federation accepting submissions for Wildlife and Landscape Photo Contest

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Wildlife Federation, one of the largest and oldest nonprofits dedicated to conserving the state’s wildlife and natural resources, has opened submissions for its wildlife and landscape photo contest.
Now in its 7th year, the contest collects and selects the most astounding professional and amateur photographs of our state. Photographers are encouraged to submit their best images that capture Tennessee’s stunning natural resources. Submissions can be made from August 1st through August 31st, 2021 at tnwf.org/Photo.
Local Athletes Earn Titles at Clay Target State Championships

ville, TN – More than 2,000 youth athletes, from middle school to college, participated in the 2021 Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program State Championships on June 21st through 27th in Nashville.
State Championships spanned six full days of co-ed competition in three shotgun shooting sports disciplines: trap, skeet, and sporting clays, as well as doubles skeet, doubles trap, and extended yard line trap. Individuals and teams from all corners of the state competed for titles in more than 160 categories.

Comprehensive Study of Tennessee’s Litter Pollution Underway

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR) voted unanimously, 20 to 0, to begin a comprehensive study of litter pollution in the state. This marks the first fresh progress on statewide litter control in a generation.
The study will address topics such as the sources and composition of litter, financial and environmental costs, economic opportunities of recovering waste, the effectiveness of existing efforts, and proven solutions to recover litter.
Tennessee CLEAN, an anti-litter initiative of Tennessee Wildlife Federation, advocated for the study.

First-time or novice deer hunters—or those interested in future experiences around turkey, dove, or fish—can sign up at tnwf.org/interest.
The Federation’s Hunting and Fishing Academy program provides engaging, hands-on instruction in the art of being an outdoorsman through multi-day, immersive experiences.

Ayers Foundation makes gift to Tennessee Wildlife Federation to fight Asian Carp

Nashville, TN – The Ayers Foundation, created in 1999 to sustain and significantly improve the quality of life in Tennessee, has made a notable gift to Tennessee Wildlife Federation in support of its efforts to fight invasive Asian carp in the state’s waters.
Tennessee Wildlife Federation is one of the largest and oldest nonprofits dedicated to conserving the state’s wildlife and natural resources. Its public policy work has increasingly focused on Asian carp as the invasive species, and the damages they cause, spread through Tennessee’s waterways.

Tennessee Wildlife Federation Brings Teens Back to Tradition at Land Between the Lakes

Clarksville, TN – Tennessee Wildlife Federation’s Youth Hunting & Fishing Program engaged Tennessee youth in outdoor recreation while building relationships to last a lifetime this past weekend October 4th-6th, 2017, at Brandon Spring Group Center within Land Between the Lakes National Recreational Area.
Five Tennessee youth and their parents shed technology and the comforts of home for a weekend in our nation’s public lands. The youth-parent teams were joined by Tennessee Wildlife Federation staff and volunteers, including Hunt Masters who are trained to engage youth in full immersion camping and introductory hunting experiences.
