TWRA reports 11 Additional Deer are Preliminarily CWD Positive in Fayette County, Hardeman County

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has received results that 11 additional deer have tested positive with chronic wasting disease (CWD). The TWRA received the results from 140 deer that were harvested December 5th-16th in West Tennessee.

The 11 deer testing preliminarily positive were from Fayette and Hardeman counties. There were six males and five females, ranging in age from 1 ½ to 3 ½-years-old. All were from within a few miles of the original 13 positive deer. If confirmed, the total would be 24 CWD positive deer from Fayette County and Hardeman County.

TWRA reports Spring Turkey Harvest passes 30,000 mark; slips slightly by 2013 Total

679 Turkeys Harvested in Henry County

Nashville, TN – Tennessee turkey hunters passed the 30,000 harvest mark for the 12th straight year during the spring season which concluded last month.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports that the 2014 harvest stands at 32,495. The harvest just slips past the 2013 total of 32,489.

TWRA Presents Fishing Proposals for 2014-15

Now Accepting Regulations Comments

Knoxville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Fisheries Division announced its proposed 2014-15 sport fish and commercial fishing regulation changes during the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission’s August meeting. TWRA Fisheries Division Chief Bobby Wilson made the proposals at the August 22nd-23rd meeting of the TFWC held in Knoxville.

The public is invited to provide comments on the 2014-15 proposals. The comment period for the commercial fishing regulations will be until September 18th. [Read more]
