Tennessee Unemployment Rate drops for Third Straight Month

Nashville, TN – As Tennessee’s economy continues to rebound, the state has experienced three consecutive months of lower unemployment, according to newly released data from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).
The preliminary, seasonally adjusted statewide unemployment rate for August came in at 4.6%, 0.1 of a percentage point lower than July’s revised rate of 4.7%. June’s unemployment rate was 4.9%.

Nashville, TN – Many Tennessee counties experienced changes in their unemployment rates during October 2020, according to newly released data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).
Henry County unemployment in October was 7.5% an increase of 2.2% from September’s 5.3%.

Nashville, TN – Newly released data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) shows 38 counties experienced a drop in unemployment during October, while rates remained the same in 24 counties, and increased in 33 counties.
Henry County’s unemployment rate was unchanged in October, remaining at 3.7 percent, the same as September.

Nashville, TN – Tennesseans took home a little more money in their paycheck last year according to the latest data released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).
The median wage earned for all Tennessee occupations increased by 3.16 percent between May 2016 and May 2017 to $33,870.

Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has not only remained unchanged since May, it mirrors the 3.5 percent recorded during the same time period in 2017.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips announced today that Tennessee’s May 2018 statewide unemployment rate of 3.5 percent marked the 11th consecutive month the figure has been 3.5 percent or lower.
While the May unemployment rate represents a slight uptick of 0.1 of a percentage point compared to the April rate of 3.4 percent, year-to-year, it is 0.3 of a percentage point lower than it was in May 2017.

The preliminary, seasonally adjusted rate for March was 3.4 percent, which mirrored the revised rate for February and was nearly one percentage point less than the March 2017 rate of 4.2 percent.
