Tennessee Unemployment remains Low in December

Nashville, TN – Tennessee ended 2022 with continued low unemployment across the state. The seasonally adjusted rate for December came in at 3.5%, which was unchanged from November. For the entirety of 2022, the statewide unemployment rate reached a low of 3.2% and never went above 3.5%.
In a year-to-year comparison, the statewide unemployment rate is down 0.1 of a percentage point from 3.6% to 3.5%.
Tennessee’s Unemployment Rate Holds Steady in September

Nashville, TN – Unemployment in Tennessee remained unchanged between August and September, according to data released Thursday by the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).
The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September came in at 3.4% and is just 0.2 of a percentage point away from Tennessee’s all-time low rate of 3.2%.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee’s statewide unemployment rate decreased for the second consecutive month in July, according to newly released data from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
The preliminary, seasonally adjusted rate for July 2021 is 4.7%, a drop of 0.2 of a percentage point from June’s revised rate of 4.9%.

Nashville, TN – Newly released unemployment data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) showed that vast majority of Tennessee’s 95 counties experienced lower unemployment rates in September 2018, when compared to the previous month.
Paris-Henry County unemployment rate remained the same at 4.3 percent in September.

Tennessee Counties End 2017 With Continued Low Unemployment
Nashville, TN – Tennessee County unemployment rates released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) show unemployment remained below 5 percent in an overwhelming majority of the state’s 95 counties during December 2017.
Unemployment in Paris-Henry County dropped from 4.2 percent in November to 4.0 percent in December and is down 2.3 percent from December 2016’s unemployment rate of 6.3 percent.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Human Services (DHS) Commissioner Danielle W. Barnes today announced plans to reinstate the federal work requirement for able-bodied adults without dependents in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that was waived in 2008 during the economic recession.
With the state’s record low unemployment rates and significant job growth, the waiver is no longer needed across most of the state – but will remain in place in 16 counties designated as economically distressed.
Job Influx Meets a 5.4 Percent Tennessee Unemployment Rate in January

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips announces a preliminary unemployment rate for January at 5.4 percent, increasing from the revised December rate of 5.1 percent.
The U.S. preliminary rate for January is 4.8 percent, up one-tenth of a percentage point from the previous month.
