Nashville, TN – Today, Tuesday, January 7th, 2020, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced that Tennessee will provide paid family leave for state employees.
The Governor signed an Executive Order today directing the Tennessee Department of Human Resources to issue the new policy effective March 1st.
Tennessee Highway Patrol to Start Accepting Applications for New Trooper Cadet Class

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is announcing it will soon begin accepting applications for the next Trooper Cadet Academy. Men and women interested in a career as a state trooper can begin the application process online only, beginning at 12:01am on Wednesday, August 3rd, through 11:59pm Tuesday, August 16th.
The THP anticipates the agility test and interview appointments to begin mid-September, at the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Training Center. Individuals interested in applying for the position of state trooper must be at least 21 years old, a U.S. Citizen and have a high school diploma or equivalent. No applicants with felony convictions will be considered.

Applications will only be accepted online from Wednesday, October 3rd through Wednesday, October 10th, 2012. Individuals interested in applying for the position of State Trooper must be at least 21 years old, a U.S. Citizen and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Historic Legislation transforms State Government to recruit, retain and reward employees
Nashville, TN – Joined by state employees, legislators and members of his Cabinet, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam today signed the Tennessee Excellence, Accountability and Management (TEAM) Act into law on the Tennessee Tower plaza across from the State Capitol in Nashville.
“State government’s role is to provide services that Tennesseans aren’t able to get on their own, and I believe it is my job to make sure we’re providing them in the most customer-focused, efficient and effective way,” Haslam said just before signing the bill into law. “In the next five years, almost 40 percent of state employees will become eligible for retirement, and in facing this challenge, it is our responsibility to build a top notch workforce for the future. Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) announced today it is aggressively seeking men and women who are interested in careers in law enforcement for a new Trooper Cadet Class slated to begin January 22nd, 2012. Applications will only be accepted from Monday, August 15th through Friday, August 26th, 2011.
Individuals interested in applying for the position of State Trooper must be at least 21 years old, a U.S. Citizen and have a high school diploma or equivalent. No applicants with felony convictions will be considered. If hired, individuals must obtain a valid Tennessee Driver License, and are required to successfully complete a Level II background investigation, which includes a credit check and polygraph test. Recruits must also pass a physical agility test, as well as psychological and medical examinations, including a drug screening. [Read more]
