Tampa Bay, FL – Consumer gasoline demand continues to climb, hitting its highest point yet in 2018. According to the Energy Information Administration’s latest weekly petroleum status report, demand registered at 9.11 million b/d.
That is 70,000 b/d more than the previous week and nearly 170,000 b/d more than the same time in 2017.
AAA says Rising Crude Oil Prices Push Up Pump Prices for Consumers

Tampa Bay, FL – At $2.58, the national gas price is four cents more expensive on the week. Across the country, motorists in 47 states and Washington, D.C. have seen pump prices increase as much as 9 cents with the Great Lakes, Central, South and Southeastern states seeing the largest increases.
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports an increase on the week in gasoline demand and inventories.

Tampa Bay, FL – The average price at the pump has fallen for 15 of the last 20 days, for a total savings of seven cents per gallon.
The national average currently sits at $2.46 per gallon, which is one cent less than one week ago, 12 cents less than one month ago and 24 cents more year-over-year. The national average is down 17 cents per gallon versus the 2017 peak price reached in September ($2.67).

Tampa Bay, FL – At $2.45, today’s national gas price average is the highest recorded price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline so far this year.
The near-term combinations of numerous refinery and pipeline shut downs, tightened access to supply levels in the Gulf and anticipated high gasoline demand surrounding Labor Day weekend, means motorists may not have seen the full impact of Harvey at the pump.
AAA reports Gas Prices Stay Steady

Tampa, FL – Prices at the pump rose slightly this week. The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.279 today, up nearly a penny from last week, down 8 cents from a month ago and an increase of 58 cents over last year.
“Low demand is keeping downward pressure on gasoline prices,” said Josh Carrasco, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “OPEC’s cuts are being offset by increases in domestic oil production, high gasoline and oil inventories and a drop in gasoline demand. Gas prices should remain steady in the near-term before taking their seasonal upswing as we head into the spring.”

Tampa Bay, FL – The national average price of gas has held relatively steady over the past week and has declined on just one of the past four days.
The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.12 per gallon, which is the lowest price for this date since 2004 and 26 cents below 2016’s peak price to date of $2.40 on June 11th.
Today’s price is one cent less than one week ago, 12 cents less than one month ago and 48 cents less than the same date last year.
