Tennessee Free Hunting Day happens Saturday, Squirrel Season to Open

Free Hunting Day is an event the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency annually provides in hopes of increasing interest in hunting. Squirrel hunting is one of Tennessee’s oldest and favorite traditions. The day serves as an excellent opportunity for persons to experience the enjoyment of the sport.
Tennessee’s Free Hunting Day is August 24th

TWRA announces 2019 Spring Squirrel Season begins May 11th

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife and Resources Agency (TWRA) states that the Tennessee 2019 spring hunting season for gray, fox and red squirrels opens Saturday, May 11th and will continue through Sunday, June 9th.
The daily bag limit is 10, the same for the fall/winter squirrel season, which is held from late August to the end of February.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee residents are allowed to hunt without a license on Saturday, August 25th, 2018 which coincides with the opening day of squirrel season says the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
In addition to the opening of squirrel season, it will be the middle day of the statewide three-day archery private lands only/antlered only deer season. This is the first year for this type of deer season.

Early Squirrel Season Opening at Land Between the Lakes

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area’s 2014 spring squirrel hunting season will open in Tennessee from May 10th-June 8th and in Kentucky from May 17th-June 20th.
Hunters must have a valid Kentucky or Tennessee state hunting license for the state in which they are hunting. Hunters age 16 and older must also have a Land Between The Lakes Hunter Use Permit. These are available at North and South Welcome Stations, Golden Pond Visitor Center, and wherever Kentucky and Tennessee state hunting licenses are sold. [Read more]
