AAA reports Domestic Gasoline Stocks Soar, Push Down Gas Prices

Tampa, FL – AAA says the national gas price average, $2.64, represents a seven-cent drop on the week as domestic gasoline stocks built by a surprising 4.4 million bbl, according to the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) latest data.
Contributing to the build was at least 1.2 million b/d of imports at U.S. ports. With the large bump, stocks now sit 235 million bbl – a U.S. stock level not seen in nearly five months (end of March).

AAA reports National Gasoline Average Jumps a Nickel on the Week

Tampa, FL – At $2.74, the national gas price average increased a nickel on the week and is eight cents more than last year at this time. And compared to one month ago, gas prices are 28 cents more expensive.
As demand holds steady and inventories continue to tighten, motorists continue to see gas prices increase in every region.
AAA reports Prices Fall Below $2.00 Per Gallon in Nine States

Tampa, FL – Nearly 20 percent of states are currently enjoying prices below $2.00 per gallon. Nationally, retail averages have dropped 83 of the past 90 days. The national average for regular unleaded gasoline currently sits at $2.30 per gallon, which is six cents less than one week ago, 24 cents less than one month ago and 16 cents less than at the same time last year.
Heading into 2019, gasoline demand is expected to dwindle during the month of January, an expected change following the busy holiday travel season.
AAA says National Gas Price Average is Cheaper for First Time in 18 Months than One Year Ago

Tampa, FL – On the week, motorists in 32 states are paying less to fill up compared to a year ago. As the national gas price average drops to $2.46 it sets a new low price for the year and is cheaper than a year ago by two cents.
The last time the daily national gas price average was cheaper year-over-year was 18 months ago on July 6th, 2017 when gas prices were $2.24 (versus $2.26 on July 6th, 2016).
AAA Forecasts Fall National Gas Price Average to be a Quarter a Gallon Cheaper than During Summer

Washington, D.C. – AAA forecasts that the national gas price average will drop to $2.70 this fall and has the potential to drop even more. That is 14-cents less a gallon compared to today’s price and more than a quarter cheaper than this year’s recorded high of $2.97 set in May.
“Cheaper-to-produce gasoline and relatively stable crude oil prices in August, combined with an anticipated drop in consumer gasoline demand post-Labor Day, means consumers will see savings when they fill-up at the pump this fall,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.

Tampa, FL – Motorists across the country continue to see their local pump prices dropping. On the week, state gas price averages declined as much as four cents while the national gas price average held steady at $2.84, which is two-cents cheaper than a month ago, but 48-cents more than a year ago.
“With Labor Day approaching, motorists could see a small swing towards higher gas prices, but any jump should not last past the holiday weekend,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.

Motorists Pay Most Expensive August Pump Prices since 2014

Tampa, FL – At 9.88 million b/d, gasoline demand last week was near an all-time record high according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). More so, the latest EIA data shows gasoline inventories tightening from 240 million bbl at the end of June down to 231 million bbl at the end of July.
The boost in demand and drop in inventory have driven the national gas price average to $2.87, which is the most expensive gas price seen in August since 2014.
Gas Prices Trend Cheaper, but Increases are Likely Looming

Tampa, FL – On the week, the national gas price average is two cents cheaper at $2.90. Today’s national average is only one cent more expensive than a month ago, but 60 cents more expensive than a year ago.
Nationwide, 44 states have less expensive or steady gas price averages compared to last Monday.
However, the cheaper trend may be reversing. Gasoline demand spiked in the latest Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) report, in fact setting a new all-time record at 9.88 million b/d for the week ending June 8th.
