Henry County unemployment in July was 4.8 percent up 0.3 percent from June’s 4.5 percent.

AT&T Expands High-Speed Internet in Communities across Tennessee

AT&TNashville, TNAT&T* has expanded internet access in communities throughout Tennessee to better serve those in rural and urban areas alike.

As part of our FCC Connect America Fund commitment, AT&T has deployed high-speed internet service to rural and underserved locations in parts of 51 counties serving more than 37,000 Tennessee locations.

For much of this rural deployment, AT&T is using its Fixed Wireless Internet service.  Launched in Tennessee in June of 2017, this innovative service delivers an internet connection with download speeds of at least 10Mbps and upload speeds of at least 1Mbps to homes and small businesses.

Tennessee Counties End 2017 With Continued Low Unemployment

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Tennessee County unemployment rates released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) show unemployment remained below 5 percent in an overwhelming majority of the state’s 95 counties during December 2017.

Unemployment in Paris-Henry County dropped from 4.2 percent in November to 4.0 percent in December and is down 2.3 percent from December 2016’s unemployment rate of 6.3 percent.

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Nearly all Tennessee counties continued to have unemployment rates below 5.0 percent in October 2017, following a record-breaking September when, for the first time ever, each of the state’s 95 counties experienced a rate below 5.0 percent.

October marked the fifth consecutive month Tennessee’s statewide unemployment rate was in record territory, matching the all-time low of 3.0 percent set the month before.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Offers $2500.00 Reward in Bald Eagle Shootings

U.S. Fish and Wildlife ServiceCrossville, TN – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has issued a $2500.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution in the shooting of two bald eagles in the Tennessee River valley. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) along with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service continue their investigation investigating the shooting of two bald eagles in the Tennessee River Valley.

Tennessee Department of Agriculture reports seven additional Counties quarantined for Emerald ash borer

July 26, 2014

The Tennessee Department of AgricultureNashville, TN – A quarantine for Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), an invasive insect that destroys ash trees, has been expanded to seven additional counties in Middle and East Tennessee. Clay, Fentress, Macon, Morgan, Overton, Pickett, and Rhea counties have been added to the list of areas restricted for the movement of ash trees and ash tree products.

This brings the total number of Tennessee counties under a state and federal EAB quarantine to 34.
