Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission Meeting gives update on Asian Carp, Duck Hunters Survey, Annual Awards

Humphreys County, TN – An update on Asian carp, results of a recent Tennessee duck hunters survey, and annual divisional awards presentations were among the business conducted at the October meeting of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission.
The one-day meeting was held Friday in the Tom and Wendy Beasley Education Center at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Buffalo Ridge Refuge. It was the TFWC’s first formal meeting at Buffalo Ridge Refuge which comprises about 2,000 acres in southern Humphreys County.
Results from Tennessee Duck Hunters Survey was presented at the TFWC meeting.

New Officers elected during February TFWC Meeting

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission elected its new officers for 2016-17 during its one-day February meeting on Friday at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Region II Ray Bell Building.
Harold Cannon (Lenoir City) will serve as the 2016-17 chairman after he was vice chairman this past year. Jamie Woodson (Lebanon) moves from serving as secretary to vice chairman. David Watson (Lookout Mountain) was elected as the TFWC’s new secretary.
Jim Bledsoe (Jamestown) holds a plaque of appreciation he received for his service as chairman of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission. Chairman Bledsoe will continue as a commission member and is pictured with the newly-elected TFWC officers for 2016-17. To Mr. Bledsoe’s left is Vice Chairman Jamie Woodson (Lebanon), and to his right are Chairman Harold Cannon (Lenoir City), and Secretary David Watson (Lookout Mountain).
TWRA Presents Fishing Proposals for 2014-15

Now Accepting Regulations Comments
Knoxville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Fisheries Division announced its proposed 2014-15 sport fish and commercial fishing regulation changes during the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission’s August meeting. TWRA Fisheries Division Chief Bobby Wilson made the proposals at the August 22nd-23rd meeting of the TFWC held in Knoxville.
The public is invited to provide comments on the 2014-15 proposals. The comment period for the commercial fishing regulations will be until September 18th. [Read more]
Reelfoot, Statewide Duck Hunting Seasons Start December 4th

Nashville, TN – The second segment for Tennessee’s hunting seasons for the Statewide Duck Zone and the Reelfoot Duck Zone will run December 4th and continue through January 30th, 2011. Shooting hours are one-half hour before sunrise until official sunset each day.
The Canada Goose Statewide Zone third segment will run from December 4th-January 30th, 2011. The Northwest Canada Goose Zone will have its season from December 4th-February 13th, 2011. [Read more]
First Segment of Statewide Duck Hunting Season November 27th-28th

Nashville, TN – The first segment of Tennessee’s statewide duck season (the remainder of the state outside the Reelfoot Lake Duck Zone) will open Saturday, November 27th and runs through the following day, November 28th. The second segment will run from December 4th-January 30th, 2011.
Shooting hours are one-half hour before sunrise until official sunset each day.
The Canada Goose Statewide Zone (all counties and portions of counties not in the Northwest Canada Goose Zone) for Canada geese is November 27th-28th and December 4th-January 30th, 2011. A bag limit of two per day is permitted. [Read more]
