Shortleaf Pine Planting at LBL

Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Land Between The Lakes has planted approximately 29,000 Shortleaf pine seedlings on 42 acres near Demumbers Bay.
Hardwood trees and Loblolly pines in this area sustained heavy damage during the 2009 ice storm and other wind events. Non-native Loblolly pines were removed from the area and replaced with native Shortleaf pines.
Land Between the Lakes’ Golden Pond Planetarium and Observatory Summer Evening Shows and Star Parties

Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Summer Evening Planetarium Shows begin May 30th with Firefall at Golden Pond Planetarium followed by a Star Party.
Friends of Land Between The Lakes will present additional 8pm evening planetarium shows and star parties on select Saturdays during June, July, August, and September. Admission is $5.00 ages 13 and up, $3,00 ages 5-12, and free for ages 4 and under.
Laser Light Music Shows returns to LBL’s Golden Pond Planetarium with Brand New Projector

Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Laser Light Music Shows at Golden Pond Planetarium begin Saturday, May 23rd, at 5:30pm on a brand new, multimillion color laser projector. People can see laser lights synchronized to popular music fill the 40-foot dome every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at 5:30pm and 7pm through September 4th.
Additional Saturday shows are at 8:00pm May 23rd, June 6th and 20th, July 18th, and August 1st and 15th. Laser shows continue to be offered Tuesdays and Saturdays at 5:30pm and 7:00pm through October 31st, at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. All seats are $7.00.
Wildlife Celebration at LBL

Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – The Wildlife Celebration at Woodlands Nature Station will be held Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday-Monday, May 23rd-25th. Visit with Smokey Bear, gobble with turkeys, and have up-close encounters with native wildlife in the Nature Station’s backyard at Land Between The Lakes.
All programs are included with Nature Station admission.
38th Annual Special Populations Fishing Tournament to be Held at LBL’s Honker Lake

Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Kentucky Lake Bass Club and the Knights of Columbus of Aurora will sponsor the 38th Annual Special Populations Fishing Tournament on Saturday, May 16th.
This tournament develops the fishing skills of children and adults who are physically or mentally challenged. Land Between The Lakes hosts the tournament at Honker Lake, off Forest Service Road 135 near Woodlands Nature Station.
18th Annual Jeep Jamboree Returns to LBL’s Turkey Bay

Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Jeep owners will soon travel to Turkey Bay Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area at Land Between The Lakes for the 18th Annual Jeep Jamboree, Saturday and Sunday, May 15th-16th, 2015. To participate, Jeep owners must pre-register at www.jeepjamboreeusa.com .
Turkey Bay is one of 30 Jeep Jamboree locations nationwide and is considered to be a family oriented four-wheel-drive adventure destination.
LBL Spring Squirrel Season starts May 9th

Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area’s 2015 spring squirrel hunting season will open May 9th-June 14th, in Tennessee and May 16th-June 19th, in Kentucky.
Hunters must have a valid Kentucky or Tennessee state hunting license for the state in which they are hunting. Hunters age 16 and older must also have a Land Between The Lakes Hunter Use Permit. These are available online, 24/7 at www.landbetweenthelakes.us/reservations/ or North and South Welcome Stations, Golden Pond Visitor Center, and wherever Kentucky and Tennessee state hunting licenses are sold.
