Despite fear, AAA survey reveals experience with vehicle technology leads to trust
Knoxville, TN – New vehicle technology has become a major topic among American motorists. According to a new AAA survey, three out of four U.S. motorists are afraid to ride in a self-driving car. Motorists feel the technology is too new.
In spite of this fear, AAA found that motorists who own vehicles with semi-autonomous features are 75 percent more likely to trust the technology then those who don’t own it.
AAA says Gas Prices Could Rise 10 Cents in March

February gas prices were the lowest in 12 years
Tampa, FL – Motorists found the cheapest gas prices for the month of February since 2004. The monthly average was $1.77 in Florida, $1.67 in Georgia, $1.54 in Tennessee, and $1.73 nationwide.
February gas prices dip for first time in 10 years. Throughout the month, gas prices declined a total of 5 cents nationwide, 9 cents in Florida, 7 cents in Georgia, and 8 cents in Tennessee.
AAA says Seasonal Gas Prices hit Lowest Point in more than a Decade

Tampa, FL – Motorists are enjoying the lowest gas prices during this time of year since 2004. However, the current average remains at an all-time low since January 2009.
“Motorists are saving 60-70 cents for every gallon of gasoline compared to this time last year,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “But the price of oil increased last week, and gas prices rose for the third consecutive day. Georgia and Tennessee residents are seeing prices higher than this time last week, but recent increases in Florida have not exceeded price declines from early last week.”

Tampa, FL – Motorists may soon begin to find some volatility at the gas pump. The national average price for gasoline rose for four consecutive days last week – the longest streak of increases since December. Prices in the southeast are also beginning to turn volatile.
The average price in Florida is one cent lower than last week, but rose for two days last week, for the first time since December. The average price in Georgia is fractions of a cent lower than last week, after increasing four consecutive days. The average price in Tennessee is the same as last week, after increasing for two consecutive days.

AAA finds two-thirds of American motorists are concerned about potholes
Knoxville, TN – As snow and ice begins to melt on roadways, the asphalt becomes compromised. Potholes are formed by water intrusion in the cracks of the asphalt. As a result, the material laid underneath the road softens causing weak spots to collapse under the weight of constant traffic.
AAA cautions drivers to remain alert to avoid pothole damage and urges state and local governments to fully fund and prioritize road maintenance to reduce vehicle damage, repair costs and driver frustration.
AAA: Oil Hits Lowest Weekly Settlement in 13 Years

Tampa, FL – Motorists have fallen in love with paying the lowest gas prices in seven years. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $1.70 on Valentine’s Day this year, 55 cents lower than last year, and $1.64 lower than the same day in 2014.
“Gas prices continue to hover at levels unseen since 2009, largely due to the lower crude oil prices and minimal disruptions in supply,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Oil and gasoline supplies are at their highest levels on record, which should prevent upswings in pump prices until refinery maintenance season begins.”
AAA testifies in favor of retaining Helmet Law

Knoxville, TN – On Tuesday, the House Finance, Ways and Means Committee is expected to vote on House Bill 700 by Representative Jay Reedy (R-Erin) which would drastically weaken Tennessee’s motorcycle helmet law and undoubtedly increase deaths, traumatic brain injury and medical costs in the state.
The proposed bill would allow riders 21 years and older not insured with TennCare, to ride without a helmet. Tennessee’s current law requires all motorcyclists to wear a helmet, regardless of age or experience of the rider.

AAA reports Gas Prices fall 6 cents in 7 Days

Tampa, FL – Falling crude oil prices have helped keep downward pressure on the price at the pump and drivers continue to pay prices unseen since 2009.
Today’s national average price of $1.74 per gallon represents a savings of 6 cents per gallon since last week, 43 cents lower than a year ago. Consumers continue to save more than $1.00 per gallon versus the 2015 peak price.
