AAA reports Motorists see Minimal Movement at the Pump over Holiday Weekend
June 5, 2021
Washington, D.C. – AAA says that at $3.04, the national gas price average only increased one penny leading up to Memorial Day weekend. The majority of states saw no change to pump prices or a decline on the week.
However, prices may not stay stagnant for long. For the week ending May 21st, demand jumped to 9.4 million b/d—the highest reported number since early March 2020 and up nearly 30% over the same week last year, indicating motorists are filling up more frequently.

With rising demand, crude oil price increases and decreasing supply levels, Gas prices are likely to fluctuate through all of June. (AAA)

“During the last month, demand has averaged about 8.6 million b/d while, gasoline stocks have steadily declined,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.

“Gasoline stocks remain robust amid a recent dip in demand, which could be one reason we are seeing pump prices starting to roll back,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.
AAA says Gas Prices drop Seven Cents at the Pump
June 11, 2019
Tampa, FL – AAA says that today’s national average is $2.74, which is seven-cents cheaper than last week, 13-cents less than a month ago and 18 cents cheaper than a year ago. Nearly every state’s gas price average is cheaper than a week ago, a month ago and a year ago.
“Refinery utilization in the United States is at its highest level since early January, resulting in overall gasoline stocks at healthy levels to meet robust summer demand. Prices are dropping due to cheaper crude oil and at the same time U.S. supply is keeping pace with demand,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.
