National Public Lands Day Trail Maintenance Work Day at LBL
September 22, 2014
Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area will host a volunteer trail maintenance day to celebrate National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 27th, from 9:00am-12:00pm. To sign up, volunteers can call 270.924.2007 or email volunteer@friendsoflbl.org
Everyone will meet at the North Welcome Station at 9:00am. Volunteers are asked to bring lunch, snacks, and a water bottle. Bug spray, tools, and additional water will be provided by Friends of Land Between The Lakes.
LBL Honors 20th Annual National Public Lands Day

Golden Pond, KY – Celebrate your public lands on Saturday, September 28th. Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will waive fees at participating day-use facilities and have a trail clean-up opportunity in honor of National Public Lands Day.

General admission to The Homeplace (HP), Woodlands Nature Station (NS), Elk & Bison Prairie, and the Golden Pond Planetarium (GPP) show at 1:00pm will be free. Wranglers Campground will also be waiving day-use riding fees.
NPLD, a program of the National Environmental Education Foundation, supports the goals of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move Outside initiative by offering activities at sites around the country to reconnect Americans to the outdoors and encourage family recreation. [Read more]

National Public Lands Day

Golden Pond, KY – Saturday, September 25, Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will be waiving fees at participating day-use facilities in honor of National Public Lands Day (NPLD).
General admission to The Homeplace (HP), Woodlands Nature Station (NS), Elk & Bison Prairie, and the Golden Pond Planetarium (GPP) show at 1:00pm will be free. Wranglers Campground will also be waiving day-use riding fees. Visitors can also pick up a coupon at NS, HP, or GPP for a “buy one, get one free” return visit for ages 13 and up. The return visit coupon, which expires November 30th, 2010, will be good for a future one-time admission to either NS or HP (does not include special events).
In addition to waiving fees, LBL will also be unveiling a new gatehouse and shower building at Energy Lake Campground. Take a leisurely drive on the newly paved road leading to Energy Lake Campground (Rd 134) to check out the recent improvements. While you are out and about, be sure to visit our new and drastically improved Golden Pond Target Range along US68/KY80.
