Tennessee Begins 2018 With County Unemployment Rates Lower Than January 2017

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) have released county unemployment statistics for January 2018.  A vast majority of the state’s 95 counties continue to record unemployment rates under 5 percent and every county’s rate was lower than it was in January 2017.

Henry County’s unemployment rate was 4.9 percent, up 1.0 percent from December’s 3.9 percent.

AT&T Expands High-Speed Internet in Communities across Tennessee

AT&TNashville, TNAT&T* has expanded internet access in communities throughout Tennessee to better serve those in rural and urban areas alike.

As part of our FCC Connect America Fund commitment, AT&T has deployed high-speed internet service to rural and underserved locations in parts of 51 counties serving more than 37,000 Tennessee locations.

For much of this rural deployment, AT&T is using its Fixed Wireless Internet service.  Launched in Tennessee in June of 2017, this innovative service delivers an internet connection with download speeds of at least 10Mbps and upload speeds of at least 1Mbps to homes and small businesses.

Tennessee Counties End 2017 With Continued Low Unemployment

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Tennessee County unemployment rates released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) show unemployment remained below 5 percent in an overwhelming majority of the state’s 95 counties during December 2017.

Unemployment in Paris-Henry County dropped from 4.2 percent in November to 4.0 percent in December and is down 2.3 percent from December 2016’s unemployment rate of 6.3 percent.

TWRA announces Antlerless Deer Hunting available on Private Lands only in L Counties, January 8th-12th

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced that antlerless deer hunting will be allowed on all privately owned lands in Unit L counties January 8th-12th, 2018. This is the third year for the five days of hunting following the completion of the deer season on January 7th.

Privately owned lands include leased land and lands owned by individuals.

Unemployment Rates In Nearly All Tennessee Counties Remained Under 5.0 Percent In October

State Continues to Experience Record Low Unemployment  

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Nearly all Tennessee counties continued to have unemployment rates below 5.0 percent in October 2017, following a record-breaking September when, for the first time ever, each of the state’s 95 counties experienced a rate below 5.0 percent.

October marked the fifth consecutive month Tennessee’s statewide unemployment rate was in record territory, matching the all-time low of 3.0 percent set the month before.

Antlerless Deer Hunting available on Private Lands Only in Unit L Counties, January 9th-13th

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Antlerless deer hunting will be allowed on all privately owned lands in Unit L counties January 9th-13th. This is the second year for the five days of hunting following the completion of the deer season on January 8th.

Privately owned lands include leased land and lands owned by individuals. It is the responsibility of hunters to obtain verbal or written permission to hunt on privately owned lands.

Tennessee Department of Health says Wildlife Rabies Vaccination Project protects People and Pets

Tennessee Department of Health - TDOHNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health is working with the United States Department of Agriculture to help prevent rabies by distributing oral rabies vaccine for wild raccoons along Tennessee’s borders with Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. The annual baiting program administered by USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services, began in Tennessee September 25th, 2015.

“Control of raccoon rabies is vital to public health. We are pleased to be part of this important and effective program to reduce rabies in wildlife, which helps prevent transmission to people, pets and livestock,” said TDH Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, MPH.

Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission sets Two Buck Limit for State’s 2015-16 Hunting Seasons

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (TFWC) has voted to reduce the white-tailed buck limit for the 2015-16 seasons. Deer hunters will now be able to take a total of two bucks throughout the deer hunting seasons.

After months of discussion and consideration, the action came during the TFWC’s May meeting which concluded Friday at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Ray Bell Region III Building. [Read more]

Tennessee Department of Health - TDOHNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health is working with the United States Department of Agriculture to help prevent rabies by distributing oral rabies vaccine for wild raccoons along Tennessee’s borders with Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.

Rate Increases in 91 Counties and Decreases in four

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development

Nashville, TN – County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for June 2011, released today show that the rate increased in 91 counties. The four counties that decreased were DeKalb, Hawkins, Moore and Smith.

Tennessee’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for June was 9.8 percent, up slightly from the May revised rate of 9.7. The national unemployment rate for June 2011 was 9.2 percent, up from the May revised rate of 9.1 percent. Henry County had an unemployument rate of 12.7 percent for June, up 0.9 percent from May’s 11.9 percent unemployment.
