AAA reports National Gas Price Average Stabilizes

August 20, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – New data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed that gas demand and supply decreased.

Moving from 9.78 million b/d to 9.43 million b/d last week, the latest demand measurement is 500,000 b/d lower than the rate at this time in 2019, signaling that summer gas demand is likely softening as the school year starts and concerns about transmission of COVID-19 Coronavirus grow as infection rates continue to increase.

AAA reports Gas Prices have risen 15 cents since May

August 4, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – Americans are paying a pretty penny to hit the road this summer. The monthly national gas price average has increased from $3.00 in May to $3.07 in June to $3.15 in July. The beginning of August will likely be as expensive as July, especially as crude oil prices remain over $70.00 per barrel.

An increase in global crude production is expected this month. However, even with the additional supply, global demand could outpace global supply and keep prices high.

United States Gas Demand Soars

July 15, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – At 10 million b/d, gasoline demand reached a new Energy Information Administration (EIA) record last week, and that number only partially reflects Independence Day holiday weekend travel.

The nearly 1 million b/d jump in demand drove down gasoline supplies by 6.1 million bbl to 235,000 million bbl and consequently pushed the national average pump price up to $3.14.

July 8, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – The national gas price average has increased 40% since the start of the year, from $2.25 on January 1 to $3.13 today. Moreover, it is not stopping there. Motorists can expect gas prices to increase another 10–20 cents through the end of August, bringing the national average well over $3.25 this summer.

“Robust gasoline demand and more expensive crude oil prices are pushing gas prices higher,” said Jeanette McGee, AAA spokesperson.

AAA reports Gas Stocks Increase for Four Straight Weeks Helping to Minimize Pump Price Fluctuation

June 23, 2021

AAAWashington, D.C. – Increasing gasoline stock levels have helped to keep gas prices mostly stable across the country. On the week, 40 state gas price averages held steady or saw fluctuation of only one to two cents. This helped the national average decrease by a penny since last Monday, down to $3.07 today.

According to Energy Information Administration (EIA) data, total gasoline stocks sit at 242.9 million bbl, which is a 9 million bbl surplus compared to the same week in June 2019.

AAA reports National Average Decreases as Gas Demand Remains Low

July 30, 2020

AAATampa, FL – As COVID-19 Coronavirus case numbers surpass 4 million, demand for gasoline is weakening across the country. The latest Energy Information Administration (EIA) demand reading measures at 8.5 million b/d, which is about 11% less than a year ago.

The lower demand contributed to a cheaper national average on the week – down one penny to $2.18. This is the first time since late April that the national average has declined.

National Gas Price Average increases by One Penny

July 8, 2020

AAATampa, FL – The national gas price average increased just one cent to $2.18 on the week despite a dip in United States demand for gasoline and gasoline stocks increasing by 1 million bbl.

The slight drop in demand – 47,000 b/d – amid the increase in stocks comes as many states report increases in COVID-19 Coronavirus cases, potentially causing Americans to reconsider outings.
