TWRA, Non Profit Organizations to start Campaign to Save Monarch Butterflies

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is among the organizations launching a campaign to help save monarch butterflies.
The TWRA, along with the National Wildlife Federation, Tennessee Wildlife Federation (TWF), Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation (TennGreen), Mississippi River Corridor (MRC) and The Nature Conservancy are partnering with Roundstone Native Seed Company in an effort to save the butterflies.

Chikungunya Virus Disease Spread by Bites
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health is reminding vacation and business travelers about the importance of protecting themselves from mosquitoes that may transmit chikungunya virus and other mosquito-borne illnesses like dengue.
The first confirmed case of chikungunya virus disease in Tennessee occurred in 2014; since then 42 additional cases have been documented, all involving travel outside the state.

AAA reports Labor Day Gas Prices hit Four Year Lows

Prices fell nearly 10 cents through the month of August
Tampa, FL – Gas prices remained stable through the Labor Day holiday weekend as 29.7 million people gassed up the vehicle for a road trip.
Prices were the cheapest for the holiday since 2010. Compared to last year’s Labor Day, the average price was 15 cents cheaper nationwide, 19 cents cheaper in Florida, 20 cents cheaper in Georgia and 18 cents cheaper in Tennessee. [Read more]

Consumers should stop using this product unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Consumers should stop using this product unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

About 25,000 deaths in the United States each year may be associated with sugar-sweetened drinks.
New Orleans, LA – Sugar-sweetened sodas, sports drinks and fruit drinks may be associated with about 180,000 deaths around the world each year, according to research presented at the American Heart Association’s Epidemiology and Prevention/Nutrition, Physical Activity and Metabolism 2013 Scientific Sessions.
Sugar-sweetened beverages are consumed throughout the world, and contribute to excess body weight, which increases the risk of developing diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and some cancers.
