Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports No Boating Related Fatalities over Memorial Day Weekend

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is reporting that there were no boating-related fatalities over the 2014 Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Across the state, the TWRA Boating and Law Enforcement Division reports there were seven boating incidents, six which were property dame and one with injury. TWRA boating officers made 12 boating under the influence (BUI) arrests and five other arrests.

AAA reports Oil Exceeds $60 a Barrel; Gas Prices Decline

AAATampa, FL – Despite oil reaching its highest price of the year, the national average price for gasoline declined Sunday, for the first time since rising 27 cents during a period of 25 consecutive days. During that same time, price rose 30 cents in Georgia, and 28 cents in Florida and Tennessee.

U.S. gas prices are now exactly $1.00 cheaper than this time last year and motorists are saving an average of $15.00 on a full tank of gas.

AAA says 37.2 Million Americans to Kick Off Summer with a Memorial Day Getaway

Strong economy and low gas prices drive 4.7 percent increase in holiday travel over 2014

AAATampa, FL – AAA projects 37.2 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more away from home during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The total travel volume is a 4.7 percent increase from the 35.5 million people who traveled last year and the highest travel volume for the holiday in 10 years.

Kicking off the summer driving season, 33 million travelers will pack up the family vehicle and drive to their destinations. The Memorial Day holiday travel period is defined as Thursday, May 21st to Monday, May 25th.
