TDOE Releases TNReady Results for 2019

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn has released the TNReady assessment results which indicates that students across the state are performing better in almost all math subjects.
The TNReady scores also show that more than half the schools in Tennessee – 56 percent – improved their growth scores (TVAAS scores) from the previous year, with 41 percent of all schools earning a level 4 or 5 TVAAS rating which measures year-to-year growth.
TNReady assessment results have been released by the Tennessee Department of Education.

TWRA reports 2018 Muzzleloader Season Opening Weekend Nets almost 7,700 Deer Harvested

Nashville, TN – Tennessee deer hunters had a harvest of 7,683 on the opening weekend of muzzleloader season as reports continued to trickle in Monday, November 5th, 2018 according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
The current harvest number is an increase from the 4,949 recorded on the 2017 opening weekend.
Roane County had the top weekend with a harvest total of 237. Montgomery County was second with 223.

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health is working with the United States Department of Agriculture to help prevent rabies by distributing oral rabies vaccine for wild raccoons along Tennessee’s borders with Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.
The annual baiting program administered by USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services, will begin in Tennessee in October, 2018.

Tennessee Historical Commission Awards Grants to Preserve Historic Sites

TDOT announces New 2015 State Maps Now Available

Nashville, TN – The official 2015 Tennessee Transportation Map is now available for travelers. This year’s map contains new information to assist motorists, and features a special cover to commemorate the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s centennial.
The 2015 map contains historical photographs that look back at the development of Tennessee’s highway system over the last 100 years. It also highlights State Route 1, the first cross-state highway built by the state of Tennessee.

Tennessee Highway Patrol announces plan for “No Refusal” Enforcement during New Year’s Eve Holiday Period

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) will conduct a “No Refusal” traffic safety enforcement campaign during the 2014 New Year’s Eve holiday period, beginning at 12:01am, Wednesday, December 31st and concluding at 11:59pm, Sunday, January 4th.
State troopers will perform saturation patrols, seat belt, sobriety and driver’s license checkpoints and bar/tavern checks during the holiday.
The state statute regarding “No Refusal” allows law enforcement officials to seek search warrants for blood samples in cases involving suspected impaired drivers. [Read more]
