TDOE Releases TNReady Results for 2019

Tennessee Department of EducationNashville, TN –  The Tennessee Department of Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn has released the TNReady assessment results which indicates that students across the state are performing better in almost all math subjects. 

The TNReady scores also show that more than half the schools in Tennessee – 56 percent – improved their growth scores (TVAAS scores) from the previous year, with 41 percent of all schools earning a level 4 or 5 TVAAS rating which measures year-to-year growth.

Tennessee State GovernmentMaryville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam today signed legislation to support TN Together, the governor’s aggressive and comprehensive plan to end the opioid crisis in Tennessee through three key areas – prevention, treatment and law enforcement.

“This legislation is a major step in helping fight this epidemic by limiting the supply of opioids and providing resources to provide treatment for those addicted,” Haslam said in a ceremonial bill signing at the Blount Memorial Hospital.

Tennessee is Top State in United States for Advanced Industry Job Growth according to Brookings Institution Report

Tennessee Department of Economic and Community DevelopmentNashville, TN – Tennessee ranks No. 1 among U.S. states for advanced industry job growth since 2013, the Brookings Institution found in a newly released report.

From 2013 to 2015, Tennessee’s advanced industry jobs increased by an average of 4.6 percent annually, according to Brookings, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank. With the highest percentage growth rate among U.S. states, Tennessee outpaced the national average of 2.46 percent annual advanced industry job growth.

2014 TWRA Elk Hunts have Five Harvests

October 30, 2014

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – For the second consecutive year, four of the five participants recorded harvests in the Tennessee Elk Hunt held October 20th-24th at North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area.

In the Tennessee Youth Elk Hunt, held the weekend of October 25th-26th, the participant had a harvest for the third in as many years since the hunt was established. Robert L. Goodner, a 14-year old from Cleveland was the first boy selected for the youth hunt. [Read more]
