Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) is warning livestock producers about a potential scam.
Several Tennessee cattle farmers have recently been contacted by a person or persons indicating they want to buy cattle.

Nashville, TN – As the temperatures plummet and the icy conditions take hold, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture is urging citizens to take steps to keep livestock safe and healthy.
“Most livestock tolerate cold weather well,” state veterinarian Dr. Charles Hatcher said. “However, extreme temperature changes can have a dramatic impact on an animal’s health and performance.”
Access to fresh water is a must. Stock tanks and ponds should be monitored closely and any ice should be broken if freezing occurs. [Read more]

Yonkers, NY – The overwhelming majority of doctors— 93 percent—are concerned about the common meat industry practice of using antibiotics on healthy animals for growth promotion and disease prevention, according to a new poll released today by Consumer Reports.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and many other public health organizations have warned that the misuse of antibiotics on healthy livestock is making these medications less effective for treating disease in people. [Read more]
