TWRA Fisheries Division completes 2015 Florida Bass Stockings

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Fisheries Division has completed its Florida largemouth bass stockings for 2015.

TWRA fish hatchery personnel stocked close to 950,000 fingerlings in reservoirs and agency lakes. The stocking goal of 750,000 was exceeded by almost 200,000 fingerlings.

The TWRA was able to get 1,225,000 Florida largemouth fish fry from state fish hatcheries in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas in mid-April. TWRA hatchery staff raised the fry to a stocking size of about two inches. [Read more]

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission approves 2012-13 Hunting Seasons

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission set the state’s 2012-13 hunting seasons during its May meeting which concluded Friday at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Ray Bell Region II Building.

Among the changes, Tennessee sportsmen will see an increase in deer and bear harvest opportunities.

In regard to white-tailed deer hunting, the TWRC approved the TWRA’s proposal to increase the antlerless archery season bag limit in Unit B to four deer per season. [Read more]

Lack of Rain Keeps Some TVA Reservoir Levels Below Normal

Tennessee Valley AuthorityKnoxville, TN – Despite recent rainfall, several reservoirs managed by the Tennessee Valley Authority are experiencing lower water levels due to below normal rain and runoff this spring and may not reach targeted summer recreation levels by June 1st.

TVA is working to provide the highest possible water levels to support popular recreation activities including boating, fishing and swimming all across the Tennessee Valley. [Read more]

West Sandy Project open meeting scheduled for April 19th in Paris Tennessee

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Valley Authority and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is inviting the public to attend an open house which will provide information on the upcoming West Sandy Dewatering Project on Kentucky Reservoir in Henry County, Tennessee.

The open house is scheduled for April 19th, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Henry County High School in Paris. [Read more]
