TWRA announces 2020 Sandhill Crane Festival to be held January 18th-19th

Nashville, TN – The 29th edition of the annual Tennessee Sandhill Crane Festival is set for January 18th-19th (Saturday-Sunday) at the Hiwassee Refuge and Birchwood Community Center.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is the primary sponsor for the 29th edition of the festival and many staff members and volunteers will be contributing their services. The festival is a celebration of the thousands of sandhill cranes that migrate through or spend the winter on and around the Hiwassee Refuge in Birchwood as well as an opportunity to focus attention on the rich wildlife heritage of the state and the Native American history of the area.

The 29th Annual Tennessee Sandhill Crane Festival is scheduled January 18th-19th at the Hiwassee Refuge and Birchwood Community Center.
TWRA to hold Two Free Trapper Training Camps

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) and the Tennessee Fur Harvesters are hosting a pair of free trapper training camps in different regions of the state this winter.
The first camp is at TWRA’s Buffalo Ridge Refuge in Humphreys County on February 22nd-24th. The second camp is at TWRA’s Hiwassee Refuge in Meigs County near the Hamilton County community of Birchwood on March 15th-17th.

TWRA to host two free trapper training camps this winter. One at the Buffalo Ridge Refuge and the other at Hiwassee Refuge.
TWRA announces 26th Annual Sandhill Crane Festival set for January 14th-15th

Nashville, TN – The 2017 Tennessee Sandhill Crane Festival is set for January 14th-15th (Saturday-Sunday) at the Hiwassee Refuge and Birchwood Community Center.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is the primary sponsor for the 26th annual festival and many staff members and volunteers will again be contributing their services. For the sixth year, Olin Chlor Alkali Products is the corporate sponsor for the festival.

The Tennessee Sandhill Crane Festival will be held Jan. 14-15 at the Hiwassee Refuge and in the community of Birchwood. It is the 26th anniversary of the event.
New Largemouth Bass Fishing Record confirmed by TWRA

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has confirmed that a new state record for a largemouth bass has been established, breaking the previous mark which was set more than 60 years ago.
The new state record fish weighs in at 15 pounds, 3 ounces. Friday, February 13th proved to be a very lucky and history-making day for angler and new record holder Gabe Keen who made the catch on Chickamauga Reservoir.

24th Tennessee Sandhill Crane Festival to be held January 17th-18th

Nashville, TN – The 24th edition of the Tennessee Sandhill Crane Festival is set to be held January 17th-18th at the Hiwassee Refuge and at the Birchwood Community Center.
The TWRA is the primary sponsor for the festival and many staff members and volunteers will again be contributing their services. For the fourth consecutive year, Olin Chlor Alkali Products is the corporate sponsor for the festival.
The festival is a celebration of the thousands of sandhill cranes that migrate through or spend the winter on and around the Hiwassee Refuge in Birchwood as well as an opportunity to focus attention on the rich wildlife heritage of the state and the Native American history of the area.
