Golden Pond, KY – Visitor facilities at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will begin late fall and winter operation schedules in November.
Beginning November 1st, The Homeplace and Woodlands Nature Station will be open Wednesday-Sunday, 10:00am-5:00pm. North and South Welcome Stations will be open Wednesday-Sunday, 9:00am-5:00pm during November. [Read more]

Land Between the Lakes Begins 2013 Seasonal Camping Program Process

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area is now accepting applications for the 2013 seasonal camping program.
There are a total of 113 campsites in the seasonal camping program available for two to nine months at Hillman Ferry, Piney, and Wranglers campgrounds. Fenton, Cravens Bay, Taylor Bay, and Redd Hollow campgrounds have a total of 31 short-term (one to six months) sites available. [Read more]
Land Between the Lakes Facilities Re-Open for 2012 Season

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area begins its 2012 operations on Thursday March 1st, by opening several popular visitor attractions.
The Homeplace, Woodlands Nature Station, Golden Pond Planetarium, and North & South Welcome Stations open their doors March 1st, along with Hillman Ferry and Piney Campgrounds. The Homeplace, Nature Station, and North & South Welcome Stations will be open Wednesday through Sunday during March, and then open seven days a week beginning April 1st. [Read more]
Land Between the Lakes Trail Bridge Project Benefits Visitors and Local Economy

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area recently completed an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funded project to replace 17 trail bridges. The Trail Bridge Demolition and Replacement Project will provide visitors with better access to the great outdoors while stimulating the local economy.
“Replacing these trail bridges has helped restore safe access to five separate trail systems in Kentucky and Tennessee,” stated Bill Ryan, LBL’s OHV and Trails Manager. “The project has also been a huge success in helping bring large special events such as dog sled trials, two national championship adventure races, three mountain bike races, a motorized dual sport ride, and numerous civil war reenactment groups to LBL.” [Read more]
Land Between the Lakes “No Hunting” Zones open to Archery Deer Hunting

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will open certain areas typically marked as “No Hunting” zones for archery deer hunting December 1st through January 16th. Hunters are encouraged to harvest deer without antlers in these areas to reduce deer populations.
Areas open to archery hunting include Hillman Ferry Campground, Piney Campground, and Brandon Spring Group Center. Archery hunting will also be permitted in the South Nature Watch Demonstration Area across The Trace from South Welcome Station, in the eastern portion of Hunt Area 16. [Read more]

4th of July Holiday Safety Tips from LBL Law Enforcement

Golden Pond, KY – Forest Service Law Enforcement Officers at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area suggest making safety precautions as much of a summer tradition as fireworks on the Fourth of July.

LBL Initiates Food Drive as Part of “Feds Feed Families” Summer Program

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes NRA will be participating in a nationwide food drive through August. The overall goal is to collect 2 million pounds of food nationwide. U.S. Department of Agriculture agencies are trying to collect 500,000 pounds at their sites and offices.
LBL will have collection boxes available at campgrounds, facilities, and administrative offices. If you are coming to recreate at LBL this summer, drop off a can of food at North or South Welcome Station, Golden Pond Visitor Center, Piney, Wranglers, Energy Lake, or Hillman Ferry Campground. Donations will go to help families make it through this summer, a period when local food banks are typically pretty low on donations. [Read more]
More Camping and Lake Access Opportunities Return to LBL

Golden Pond, KY – Camping and lake access opportunities are returning to Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area as flood waters recede. Lake levels for Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake are currently at 362.3 feet and dropping.
The majority of campsites are open at Energy Lake Campground; all sites will open by May 20th. Hillman Ferry Campground and Piney Campground expect to open most walk-in sites and reservation sites on May 20th. Each seasonal camper at Hillman Ferry and Piney will be contacted individually as their site becomes available. Areas C, D, and E at Wranglers Campground are open for reservations. There are a very limited amount of walk-in sites available (call campground for availability, 270-924-2200). Wranglers Riding Stables is open, as well as a significant portion of horseback riding trails. Day-use riding is currently available.
